We are beyond thrilled to see Congress recognize the importance of #OvarianHealth throughout a woman's lifespan in the House Fiscal Year 2025 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations legislation that passed the committee. This milestone is a giant step forward for women's health, unlocking opportunities for research, policy advancements and funding. Our CEO and Founder, Dr. Piraye Beim, has worked as a tireless advocate to educate policy decision-makers on how ovaries impact women’s health far beyond having babies and the transition to #menopause. Years ago, we coined the term "Ovarian Health" to highlight the ovary's impact on #womenshealth. While traditionally associated with just fertility and menopause (even in medical school), the ovary serves a core function essential to the health of the brain, body, and more. Applying this to patient care and health innovation is vital to improving outcomes in everything from maternal health to cardiovascular disease to autoimmune diseases to dementia. Below is the wording that Congress included: Ovarian Health.—The Committee recognizes that ovarian health impacts a woman’s whole health throughout her lifetime, affecting the health of her heart, immune system, metabolic function, among other systems. When ovarian function declines or ceases due to menopause, various medical conditions, or following surgery, women are at increased risks for developing many chronic conditions, including heart disease, osteoporosis, dementia, and autoimmune diseases. Advancing knowledge and research on ovarian health could reduce many of these chronic conditions, especially as women age. Thank you Congress and cheers to women everywhere!

"Researchers from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health detected toxic metals such as lead, arsenic, and cadmium in both organic and nonorganic tampons. Public Health Berkeley reports that university researchers studied 30 tampons from 14 brands and found 16 metals that could put women at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, infertility, and even dementia. As half the world’s population has been menstruating monthly for years with more than half of them, 52-86% using tampons for days, the potential public health concern besides disease is infertility."

About time! Scientists at the University of Michigan have developed the first comprehensive cellular map of a human ovary. This work, described as an atlas, allows researchers to understand the ovary's complex structure and function, paving the way for future treatments. Beyond fertility, this research holds potential for studying ovarian diseases, endocrine functions, and even extending ovarian longevity. The applications are vast, offering hope for patients with infertility issues, cancer survivors, and more. Great read by Mary Brophy Marcus in Medscape:

"About half of all infertility cases involve male fertility issues. Yet reproductive spaces are often dominated by women — and the male perspective goes unheard." Very interesting episode on "Embodied" hosted by Paige Perez and Anita Rao North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC:
