Meet Steven Kuligowski - Director of Pre-Construction and this month's Hard Hat Hang Up.   Steve discovered his passion for construction while studying civil engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he secured an internship with a large general contractor performing work on campus. After managing projects in the field, he transitioned to focusing on bids, estimates, and budgets.   When asked about the skills needed for success in estimating, Steve points to three key traits: “Effective communication, attention to detail, and creativity.”   Since joining Chesapeake, Steve has been impressed by the strong sense of teamwork. “Chesapeake fosters a great atmosphere where collaboration is key to success. Every colleague I’ve met is willing to step in and help ensure the best outcome.”   Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, whether they’re exploring a playground or visiting a zoo. CCG Residential Construction's project Waldorf Station Apartments is making substantial strides.   Once finished, this Class-A residential development in Waldorf, MD will feature 302 apartments across eight buildings, complemented by top-of-the-line amenities including a resort-style pool, expansive clubhouse, co-working and social engagement lounge, fitness facilities, vehicle charging stations, and a dog park and pet spa.   Currently, the roof is being installed on Building 1, alongside ongoing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC rough-ins. Building 2 is undergoing framing, while footings are being developed for Building 3. We are seeing great progress over in Pasadena, MD on Ritchie Highway Self Storage.   Once complete, this self storage facility will consist of two separate buildings: a 1-story facility spanning 23,500 SF with leasable space and a 2-story, 65,500 SF storage building with office space. In total, there will be 677 storage units, all accessible from ground level. This month the roof and skin are being put on building 2 and we are finishing the concrete foundations for building 1. With summer ending and a new school year beginning, we’re reflecting on our contributions to creating better learning environments for students and educators. We are proud to have continued our work for McDonogh School this summer, having completed the following projects on campus:   🌞 Chesapeake recently completed upgrades to McDonogh's lower school playground area. The design included over 500 yards of specially made playground wood fiber, boulders, site amenities and plants to encourage outdoor play and learning. 🍎 The Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Middle School opened in 2021. This 67,000-square-foot educational facility provides a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment for students. 🔭 In 2018, the school opened the Fader Innovation Center. Built by Chesapeake, this wood-framed, open-concept space was designed for students to explore robotics, training, and STEM education. 🏀 Chesapeake renovated the existing middle and upper school locker rooms and training facility, including upgrades to the HVAC system which included UV lighting for COVID protection.    With one successful project at a time, we continue to expand our list of repeat clients through strong leadership, proactive problem solving, and precise estimates and expectations. Meet Chris LiPira - Senior Project Manager and this month's Hard Hat Hang Up.   Chris' interest in the construction industry began at a young age when he was fascinated by how materials could come together to create something completely new. As he grew older, he worked summers as a carpenter and eventually landed a job as a Project Engineer. From there, he moved on to become a Superintendent and eventually landed in project management as a Senior Project Manager.   As a Senior Project Manager, Chris finds great fulfillment in the collaborative nature of his work, stating, "Working together as a team to anticipate potential obstacles and overcome the challenges that come our way is very rewarding." At Chesapeake, Chris appreciates the supportive work environment. "At every level, there is a strong commitment to fostering an environment that supports each individual's growth and helps everyone achieve their goals," he says.   Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his kids, attending their sporting events, practices, and games.
