Following a nationwide search, Chesterfield County today announced Kimberly D. Conley as its new director of Community Engagement and Resources (CER). Conley, a Chesterfield resident who has spent more than three decades with the organization, currently serves as the department’s assistant director and will assume the duties of her new position on Aug. 31. “I am so excited to move into this new role and to lead this great team of people in CER,” Conley said. “It’s been extremely rewarding to spend my career in Chesterfield County and I am thankful that I get to continue to do that now and lead this fantastic department doing such important work engaging our community.” ❤️ You can read more about this amazing accomplishment at our news release below: https://lnkd.in/e3a4hZF6

🚒 As many children do, Kevin Moran aspired to be just like his father, John T. Moran Sr., who served for 20 years as chief of an all-volunteer fire department in their hometown of Graterford, Pennsylvania, and remained active as fire marshal and apparatus engineer until his death in 2017. Nearly 21 years into his career with Chesterfield Fire and EMS, the younger Moran is now battalion chief of the department’s Training and Education Division, where he mentors the aspiring firefighters who come through recruit school every six months. Moran was recently recognized in a different manner, achieving the prestigious Chief Fire Officer designation by the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). "Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve." - Martin Luther King, Jr. I am so excited to share that this fall I will continue my education at the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs where I will pursue a master's degree in public administration. Ever since I can remember, I have been in rooms with public servants everyday. Through my role as the Stegmaier Fellow for Chesterfield County, I have experienced humble leadership and true care from people that represent the organization. At Christopher Newport University, I interacted with students who cared so deeply about others that they stood in places where only few go. Every milestone in my life has taught me more about being a public servant through the lens of others and I am grateful to all of those who encouraged me to be who I am today. No matter who you choose to be, or what job you have, there is always an opportunity to serve others. My dream job is not a title, it's a role where I can learn and lead others to enact positive, important change in our society. As I embark on my next steps for education, I am ready to learn about the fundamentals of public administration but I will also remember that while a degree is valuable, it's what you do with your degree that can make all the difference.
