Reputation is Everything
About us
Founded in 1989, Choate Construction Company was a basement start-up, begun during a recession when construction projects were sparse and the employee roster small. Today, Choate Construction employs 550+ full-time professionals and is 100% employee-owned. But like the “basement days,” Choate maintains a flat management style and the opportunity for professional growth from day one. Choate strives to lead the industry in financially viable and functional construction solutions. By investing in tools to promote advances in safety, virtual construction, sustainable construction, preconstruction, and risk mitigation, Choate remains on the forefront of industry standards. As one of the largest general contractors in the Southeast, Choate considers our reputation our number one asset, with future success founded upon the strength of our client relationships and our employees. Choate excels in both base and interior construction with office locations in Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Nashville, Raleigh, and Savannah.

Kicking off the week with one of our favorite things, talking #tilt! I love spending time on site with our incredible Superintendents. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting our friends with Charleston County Economic Development, Childress Klein, and Charleston Industrial, LLC. to get a closer look and an in-depth lesson to see how these in-demand #Industrial #Warehouses come together from the #concrete poured into forms, set, and #tilted into the #vertical positions you see here on their foundational #footings to form the exterior #structure. Crosspoint XI is coming along nicely thanks to this Choate Construction Company field team & trade partners. #CrosspointCharleston #PalmettoCommerce Jay Kramer Gene Borzendowski Kip Watson Pete Davis

Happy Fourth of July! To celebrate our nation's independence and Build Up those who protect it, Choate employee-owners across the company took part in our Annual Veteran Letter Writing event to express their gratitude and assemble care packages for service members all over the world. We were honored to partner with Soldiers' Angels for this year's event and support the nonprofit's mission to provide aid, comfort, and resources to the military, veterans, and their families. Thank you to the brave men and women who work tirelessly to preserve and protect our great nation, and thank you to our teams for helping us Build Up hundreds of active military members in honor of this special holiday. Have a safe and happy Fourth! #BuildingUp #IndependenceDay

Brian Bollins was recently selected as a "Most Admired CEO" by the Atlanta Business Chronicle for 2024, nominated by industry peers and chosen by the ABC's awards committee in recognition for his outstanding leadership at Choate. While many honorees don't necessarily hold the title of "CEO," the ABC's program celebrate leaders who are the "best of the best" and demonstrate dedication and commitment to their companies and communities. We couldn't be more proud of Brian and this well-deserved recognition; his hands-on approach, vision for the future, and emphasis on mentorship and developing our employee-owners to be their best has been instrumental to our success and growth in Atlanta. Congratulations, Brian! #ReputationisEverything #Leadership #AtlantaCEOs #CareerDevelopment #CommercialConstruction

RISE is pleased to announce the early delivery of North Village at Jacksonville State University. This 515-bed, P3 development was originally scheduled for an Aug 1, 2024 delivery. This residence hall was an answer to the need created by Jacksonville State University’s unprecedented recent growth. It is the first new housing added to the rapidly growing campus since 2010. The four-story building, which provides 515 beds in two-bedroom, two-bathroom, double-occupancy suites, is a modern reiteration of the campus’s Gothic red-brick architecture. The complex features a multi-purpose lounge space, private and group study areas, conference and media rooms, a laundry, a large common green, and a convenience store. North Village’s early completion is the result of a highly collaborative, fast-track P3 process between Jax State and RISE. Jeremy Doss, RISE SVP of Development, shared, “Less than 23 months ago, Jacksonville State University engaged RISE Real Estate to develop, design, permit and guarantee a GMP budget and 8/1/24 turnkey delivery of the 515-bed North Village community. We’re proud to announce that the assignment has been completed early and under budget. “We commend our team and project partners for this record-setting project execution and thank JSU and the JSU Foundation for placing their trust for this aggressive and highly specialized undertaking in us.” RISE is grateful to have delivered this transformative project alongside our wonderful architect and general contractor partners: Niles Bolton Associates and Choate Construction Company. It was an honor to have planned and co-led Session 5 for the AIA Georgia 2024 CKLDP Class last week with my partner Jalaal Malik, Assoc. AIA, NOMA. Our focus was on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion—key elements we believe are essential for fostering an innovative industry that accurately reflects the communities we serve. The session kicked off with Jakiel Sanders, AIA, NCARB presenting NCARB’s Building on Belonging & Pathways to Practice, along with current initiatives to enhance equity within our profession. This was followed by a precedent study on Gensler’s Apprenticeship Program (GAP), a hands-on, paid, multi-level apprenticeship designed to provide another path into the design industry that is equitable, attainable, and rigorous. Hearing from Kelly Westwood, AIA, NCARB, NOMA, about her process in creating this program in collaboration with Heidi Davis, MHRIR, SPHR and Jason Pugh, NOMAC, AIA, AICP, LEED AP and challenging existing systems in education and architecture was truly inspiring. The second part of the session focused on the current and future state of EDI, including its intersection with policymaking, outreach, mentorship, and firm culture. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our panelists Kelly, Jakiel, Heidi, Yiselle Santos Rivera, AIA, SHRM-SCP and Monica Fenderson AIA, NCARB,LEED GA for their openness and willingness to discuss these critical yet challenging topics that are vital for progress. We also acknowledge the extraordinary leadership of the Executive Committee, Tangela M. Monroe, CAE and David Southerland for their efforts in organizing and executing this session. Finally, this session would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors. Thank you to Ki Carr and the Cisco team for hosting us at their incredible facilities, as well as Teknion Schluter Systems JE Dunn Construction Choate Construction Company Studio TK and Illuminations Lighting for their unwavering support of the 2024 CKLDP Scholars!

CertaPro Painters partners with property management professionals, facility managers and commercial real estate owners to transform their commercial spaces and manage their CapEx painting projects.
Another packed week representing CertaPro Painters of Salisbury/Concord/Gastonia and Charlotte/Matthews all around Charlotte, starting with the Big O' Bootyfest, sponsored by Choate Construction Company, Bonitz, Inc., and Storey Program Management, LLC to help fundraise for 24 Foundation's #24HoursofBooty, an annual cycling event that aims to raise money for cancer research and eliminate the stigma of cancer and aid conversation. (Thank you Nicole Lyons for the clarification 😂) The next day I had the best time at the 2nd annual Leads Exchange Group "NOT" Golf Tournament, even though "Team A" did not live up to our name we had a blast competing! After this, I checked out the new The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in Ballantyne and enjoyed networking at the Leverage Your Beverage event co-hosted by IFMA Charlotte and BIG-CLT (Building Intelligence Group - Charlotte)! Thank you to everyone that coordinated these events: Nicole Lyons, Terry Martin Jr., Stephen Culler, Eric J Larsen and everyone behind the scenes making each event great!

CAE is bringing their cutting-edge business aviation pilot and maintenance training to Savannah, GA. Our #commercial / #industrial design team, together with our consultants RMF Engineering, Inc., had the privilege of working with CAE and attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the state-of-the-art CAE flight simulation training center. The MPS team was able to try out the simulators and realized that we make much better designers than pilots! We extend our heartfelt thanks to the CAE project team, Marlboro Development Team, Inc., ADC Engineering, Inc, and Choate Construction Company for their successful design-build delivery!
