🚂🎡 It’s time to hop aboard the fossil fuel funfair!! Check out this brand new satirical website – Ogilvyland – by climate campaign group Serious People. It’s a free ticket to scarytown! Take a look into our potential future (and, well, reality these days) accompanied with a little dash of humor. Attractions include “Coal Mine Mountain,” “Rising River Rapids,” and the world’s first “oil slide”! 🎢 Why this website, and why now? “Ogilvy has been taking us for a ride,” said Oli Frost, one of the founders of Serious People and “Head of Flame” at Ogilvyland. “They claim to be helping their fossil fuel clients with a ‘transition,’ but those same clients’ actions tell a different story. This is neither fun, nor fair.” Co-founder of Serious People Jamie Inman added: “Burning ever more fossil fuels might be exciting for Ogilvy’s coal, oil and gas clients but it’s terrifying for everyone else. Ambitious brands are accelerating their climate efforts and will increasingly reject agencies like Ogilvy that try to play both sides.” 🎟️ Unfortunately humanity won’t be able to get off these rides if we don’t act now, and continue to push for change. Take a look at the full website here, and make sure to send it to your industry friends - https://lnkd.in/eMwwCC9J

🎉 That’s a wrap on Climate Week in New York! We had a jam-packed schedule and we’re so grateful to everyone for joining us during such a busy and inspirational week of climate action. A huge thank you to Pace Public Relations for kicking things off with us at our breakfast meet-up. We had an amazing turnout to our Happy Hour with Shimek Strategic where our community met up and celebrated the impact of this year's F-List report, which launched last week. The Creatives Industries Climate Gathering alongside Creatives for Climate Collective and Purpose Disruptors was proof that Climate Week is most impactful when we work together. We also hit the main stage at The Nest Climate Campus alongside Kate Ogden (Seventh Generation) and Whitney Dailey (Allison Worldwide), to discuss how brands' marketing budgets are funding the climate crisis. ➕Hit follow if you don’t want to miss updates for future events. Washington DC is next with details on how to RSVP coming soon. #NewYorkClimateWeek #NYCW #PacePR #Shimek #PurposeDisruptors #CreativesForClimate #ClimateWeek #Sustainability

🍸 Mad Men should be a thing of the past. But they’re still here in the present, working with fossil fuel clients. We’re here to help change that. 🔗 Discover our latest industry research at cleancreatives.org/f-list #CleanCreatives #FList2024 #Greenwashing #Advertising #Sustainability #ClimateChange

Today, DeSmog revealed how WPP is linked to TotalEnergies East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline, fake front groups and violence against activists. DeSmog’s report featuring Clean Creatives research uncovers an award submission by WPP agency, MetropolitanRepublic Uganda, which shows exactly how they worked to ‘squash all negative PR’ from environmental protests against EACOP. The strategy? Set up a totally fake front group with undisclosed sponsored content, and coordinate with the Ugandan government as they cracked down on activists - sometimes violently. 🔥EACOP will generate over 34 million tons of CO2 emissions every single year, displace thousands of families and farmers from their land and run through some of the world’s most important animal nature reserves. WPP is the holding company with the most fossil fuel contracts, according to the F-List 2024, published yesterday (cleancreatives.org/f-list). WPP says they will ‘not undertake work designed to mislead on human rights issues’. Continuing to work with fossil fuel clients like TotalEnergies breaks that promise. 🔗 Read DeSmog’s full investigation at: https://lnkd.in/er6knS32 #WPP #TotalEnergies #Sustainability #ActionForSustainability #FList2024 #Advertising #Sustainability #ClimateChange

Who’s still in the Mad Men era of working for fossil fuels? Who, like Roger Sterling, would try and sell something called 'innovative emissions management.' while the rest of us call it smog. Fossil fuel advertising hasn't changed much since the '60s and ‘70s — they’re still selling us fantasies. 🚨The 2024 F-List is here, highlighting an expanded list of Advertising and PR agencies that continue to profit from fossil fuel clients while ignoring our ominous climate emergency. 🔗 in bio. 🟢 Why the F-List Matters 🟢 According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, fossil fuel companies are "enablers to planetary destruction." That warning is yet another reminder of why it’s important to shine a light on the network of enablers that help greenwash their destruction, which is why we continue to push forward with our mission. 🔥Highlights of our 2024 research found: ✔️1,010 fossil fuel contracts across 590 Ad & PR agencies, based on over 30 new sources of data. ✔️ WPP tops the F-List with 79 fossil fuel contracts. They claim they don't take on work "designed to frustrate the Paris Agreement," yet their client list tells a different story. ✔️Ogilvy and McCann Worldgroup hold 15 contracts each - more than any other agencies. ✔️Fossil fuel giants like Shell and bp have the most contracts with ad agencies worldwide. ✔️dentsu, once a sustainability role model, is now caught in an ironic twist. They're working with Chevron, Shell, and PETRONAS while promoting anti-pollution campaigns. ✔️Edelman, one of the world's largest PR firms, has long been in bed with fossil fuels, and continues to do so. For context, 2024 is officially the hottest year on record. The fossil fuel industry is doubling down with lobbying, legal threats, and greenwashing, all while upping production of the very thing they’ve promise to “decrease” – fossil fuel production – right in front of our eyes. This narrative doesn’t happen on it’s own. Agencies can no longer hide behind vague sustainability statements. The F-List exists to hold them accountable. It's time to take real action. 🔊 Does this sound familiar? “Sure! Fossil fuels are bad, but we’re helping them do good! They’re building electric vehicle chargers!”. 👉 Every bad company in the world commissions feel-good campaigns to make themselves look better. We explain the reasoning behind this trick-of-greenwashing fallacy in our three-part series “Yes, but…” while arming you with clear, reasonable talking points. Watch us talk through the truths and untruths that might sound eerily familiar, and how to address them coming into the launch of our 2024 F-List launch (tomorrow, September 24th!) and NYC Climate Week. #MadMen #CleanCreatives #FList2024 #Greenwashing #Advertising #Sustainability #ClimateChange #NYCClimateWeek
