Women’s Equality Day is a commemoration of the 19th Amendment passing and an assertion of our commitment to the rights of all women. With the help of our Women's Health Commission (WHC), we strive to help positively impact the lives of women across Cuyahoga County. Disrupting women's health disparities is also essential, especially within the diverse journeys of motherhood. It's why the commission also proudly recognizes #NationalBreastfeedingMonth and #BlackBreastfeedingWeek. Learn more about the Cuyahoga County WHC at bit.ly/3Xjkis7. #WeAreCuyahoga

Another big milestone we're celebrating! 🎉 Cuyahoga County along with the City of Cleveland and five other cities receive a much appreciated and necessary allocation of CDBG funds. The County uses these funds to support the 51 communities we serve. In the past few years, we have received and provided over 40 million dollars in CDBG funding, allowing us to make repairs to roads and streets, making community and senior centers ADA compliant and providing citizens with countless hours of financial counseling and foreclosure prevention. "While block grants continue to be the cornerstone for the funding of many projects, they are but one tool used to build up our communities. We must continue to seek out and utilize other financial opportunities to add to and strengthen our neighborhoods," said Sara Parks Jackson, Cuyahoga County Director of Housing and Community Development. "I'm grateful to the US department of Housing and Urban Development for not only providing the funding but providing us with outstanding support as we continue our work to have a positive impact on the families and communities we serve."

Today is the 50th anniversary of the CDBG Program, and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Cleveland - City Hall, Cuyahoga County, CHN and the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation gathered to celebrate. We gathered at the iconic St. Michael School and Convent in Tremont, a building being restored and converted into affordable senior housing, in part funded by the CDBG Program. We're continuing to provide assistance to Cuyahoga County families by increasing funding for emergency food assistance by $250k due to demand from recent power outages. Our team is working with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to replenish food lost. We are also working with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service on additional food replacement measures. Additional County levy dollars were approved by the Board of Control for the United Way of Greater Cleveland Emergency Food Purchase contract. Learn more at bit.ly/46ZI8ML.
