I heart KC! I was enjoying a terrific BBQ lunch in Kansas City’s Power & Light District (which is such a cool development), when all of a sudden what do I behold right across the street, but the T-Mobile Center! We engineered, built, and installed these fun designs by Populous a few years ago. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get inside to get some shots of the “floating T logo”, but even in the middle of a random weekday in October, I was able to see people enjoying the giant heart KC letters out front. (Shout out to my new friends Heather and Sue from New Zealand!). This must be such a great venue and area to take in a concert. I also got to catch a fantastic KC SEGD Chapter joint event with the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). It was fantastic! The energy and excitement in KC right now is undeniable! The Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha Nebraska is open again following a two-year period of construction and renovation. During this time, DCL produced updated wayfinding and ADA signage for the Art Museum’s expanded art collection, added gardens, revised donors, and reimagined amenities. Shop Sneak Peek: It’s STEM week here in Massachusetts! Our favorite week! To celebrate, here’s a look into our engineering department. DCL engineers like Kat Hodge Allegretti figure out how to construct our projects. Our engineering team assesses the electrical requirements, does the structural engineering calculations, and specifies every single nut and bolt required (as Kat is doing here). Our projects are always fun, but often very complex. DCL engineers formulate their plans and compile them into what we call “shop drawings” using Autocad by Autodesk. Those drawings go to the client team (designer, architect, GC, etc) for approval, and then they are given to the DCL fabricators to build from. Take a look at what’s happening beyond the paint booth! Updated ADA signage for the MBTA's Green Line Wayfinding is in the works. Even though paint department is always in motion, we still need to take the time to let the paint dry. The Avon Fire Department hosted a Hurricane Relief drive this past week. Calling on donations of essential goods and supplies. The drive took place over the course of the week and ended on Saturday. Monday, with their trailer finally full, the fire department departed on their long journey south to ensure the supplies are delivered directly to those who need them. DCL employees participated in this drive and contributed a crate full of supplies. We are grateful for the efforts of the Avon Fire Department.
