Colleen Carr, the director of the National Alliance for Suicide Prevention at EDC, participated in a Global Mental Health Storytelling Roundtable hosted by Paramount and Prospira last week during the UN General Assembly. In her discussion, she highlighted the opportunity for global storytelling to expand the narrative around mental health and help-seeking. Colleen also advocated for the inclusion of community help-seeking approaches beyond traditional mental health clinical services and encouraged a broader perspective of taking care of one’s mental health. She stressed the need to be considerate of system capacity issues and the coordination with industry partners when there is a large-scale promotion of mental health storytelling in an entertainment event. #MentalHealth #Storytelling #UNGA
