Meet Moira Gasior, Business Development Associate! This July we recognize and celebrate Moira as she hits her one year milestone working at EverGreene. She is currently enrolled in Pratt Institute's #HistoricPreservationProgram while getting hands-on experience in the office and on-site at EverGreene. Hear her advice on how she leverages her time and talent balancing work and school: "My education at Pratt gives me the vocabulary, technical knowledge, and materials familiarity required to holistically understand scopes of work and why a historic place matters. I deeply value the asset-based preservation that Pratt emphasizes in our curriculum. My position at EverGreene gives me the opportunity to see preservation, conservation, and restoration projects from a client’s perspective. Juggling both is challenging, but it feels important (and necessary) for me to challenge myself." The August issue of Traditional Building Magazine features the #2024PalladioAwardWinners, including our work with Quinn Evans on the Old City Hall project in Richmond, VA. Special shout out to our Project Manager Chad Shores for sharing his gratitude for the team!
I’m incredibly proud of the hard work my team (lead by John C.) did on this especially challenging project at Old City Hall in Richmond VA. Our craftspeople tirelessly woodgrained thousands and thousands square feet of decorative metal to restore the original splendor of the historic atrium. I’m honored that our project received an award alongside the strongest professionals in the field of historic restoration and architecture. We have an amazing team at EverGreene Architectural Arts, Inc.!

Fun Fact Friday: The nine-story Victorian atrium at The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel is now a New York City landmark. 6sqft article: "The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the central atrium at 5 Beekman Street in the Financial District as an interior landmark, recognizing both its stunning architecture and the restoration project that returned the space to its 19th-century glory. Built as part of the commercial building Temple Court, and now the centerpiece for the converted Beekman Hotel, the space consists of eight tiers of galleries topped by a pyramid-shaped skylight." Happy Independence Day! Rhode Island's freshly conserved and gilded Independent Man is celebrating his recent makeover. In 1896 McKim, Mead, & White completed the design for the Rhode Island State House. They sought out a statue for the cupola of the finished building, a figure to symbolize the State of Rhode Island. New York sculptor George T. Brewster was selected, a nude man with magnificent physique, holding a spear in one hand and an anchor in the other, named "Hope." "Hope" was later renamed "The Independent Man" by Brewster. The Gorham Foundry was hired to cast the 14-foot-tall bronze statue in five sections. Weighing in around 1K lbs., the Independent Man was hoisted in place December of 1899. After lighting struck the top of the RI State House, EverGreene was called upon to remove the statue. The Independent Man had only been removed once before in 1975. Our team performed conservations treatments and regilding while he was on the ground. The Independent Man currently on display and is expected to return to his perch soon.
