Julie Richardson, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Re:Build Fikst, will be honored this week at the NE (New England) FIRST Robotics District Championship and will speak at the event, sharing her thoughts about the intersection of the arts and engineering. The “best of the best” from any New England state will participate in the competition, to be held April 3–6 at the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Julie’s love of engineering and music inspired her to earn a dual degree double major from MIT in both disciplines. As a child, she had a penchant for building things, and in eighth grade, she discovered STEM and joined the NE FIRST Lego League. Throughout high school, her passion for building earned her a spot on FIRST Robotics team 237. As an MIT student, she mentored the robotics team 97. In 2020, Julie joined Re:Build Fikst, where she enriches the team’s experience with her myriad skills—mechanical engineer, designer, photography and video artist, and musician. Congratulations, Julie, on being recognized for your contributions to NE FIRST!
