  • Talk about Love … Thanks so much, Samantha, for sharing your experience with us! Keep up the great work, Bri! You are showing up for your patients with compassion, and it shows! #CareLikeFamily #ShowLoveProject if you want to share a positive experience you’ve had with Frisbie Memorial Hospital, feel free to send us a note here: https://bit.ly/3xC5smF Pictured: From left, Brianna Murphy, RN, clinical nurse coordinator; patient Samantha Battis; Senja Christopherson, RN, director of inpatient nursing; and Katie Brokus, RN. Dear Nurse Manager Bri: I just wanted to extend a little note of thanks to thank you and your staff for the wonderful care that I have received while here at Frisbie. More importantly I want to thank you for your staff’s level of empathy and compassion and their willingness to problem solve when it came down to me getting the very much needed care I needed and balancing the needs, health and safety with regards to my son, who I am the primary caregiver for. Life for sure isn’t always black and white and treating patients should be looked at as a holistic approach, which in today’s medicine model is rarely acknowledged and recognized. As primary caregiver for my son, his needs fall on me. When it was decided that I would need to be admitted, I attempted to have my adult son remain at home until a crisis hit at 2 am when my son texted saying he wasn’t feeling well. Noela and Jess put an emergency plan into action, arranging for my son to be picked up in an ambulance and brought to your facility. Even further, your staff arranged for my son to stay with me once evaluated so I could still get my care and I could care for my son. Extenuating circumstances for patients exist but are rarely honored or recognized. If your staff hadn’t acted so swiftly with problem solving, driven by empathy and offering accommodations, I would have had to leave and faced the health consequences for myself after. Your staff didn’t leave me with that decision I had to make. From the time I walked in the door of your health care facility, to your ER department, radiology and for nursing staff on the floor, every single staff member has gone out of their way to provide excellent care, with a smile and optimal problem solving, all without judgement. The ambulance staff who treated my non-verbal son who was alone was amazing at making him feel relaxed and comfortable during a very stressful, intense time. I truly can’t thank you enough. In the disability community of which we are a part of, care like that we have received from each of your staff doesn’t seem to exist anymore, and this mom, who was very sick and caught between my own health and the care for my son is so grateful I was able to do both. Lifesaving. Please thank your entire staff who treated us, they were all above and beyond and made our healthcare crisis smooth and healthful. With much appreciation, Samantha and Ben Battis
