    NEW data today from LION: Local Independent Online News Publishers shows how quickly local digital news publishers are pivoting from social media to newsletters. The number of publishers producing newsletters is up to 95% in 2024, from 81% in 2022. Newsletter are now the MOST-PRODUCED product, even more than "originally reported articles". Surprised? The LION authors explain: "The growth in newsletters...is unsurprising, since [they allow] for greater direct engagement and relationship-building with a core audience, helping move folks down the audience funnel to becoming loyal supporters."

    Five tools I'm using pretty much every week with my newsletters: ❶ Domainr (https://lnkd.in/eHqwSJ87) — It’s an amazing search engine for website domains and always my first stop if I’m thinking of launching a new website. ❷ Fathom Analytics (https://lnkd.in/eDiwHCrH) — It’s for tracking engagement on your website. I only need a few pieces of data: How many visitors came to my website, which stories they read, and how long they spent on the website. Fathom gives me all that data on a single page. ❸ GlueLetter newsletter analytics (https://lnkd.in/eFPBeGAc) — It connects via API to several major ESPs, and pulls key data around engagement and growth into easy-to-read dashboards. Plus, it sends me weekly emails with reports about key metrics. ❹ OptinMonster (https://lnkd.in/egzYdJyB) — It runs pop-ups, full-screen takeovers, banners, and other widgets to convert website readers to newsletter subscribers. I use it all over my site — and it’s great for A/B testing different units to improve conversion. ❺ Zapier (https://lnkd.in/eykG2ttr) — Zapier is a magic little tool that connects the different tools you use. With Zapier, you set the rules: If this happens in one tool, then that should happen in this other tool. I use it for a thousand little automations to make my life easier.
