Great River Greening inspires, engages and leads local communities in conserving and caring for the land and water that enrich our lives.
We create resilient landscapes, address biodiversity loss, and sequester and store carbon through community-based stewardship.
Our work began in 1995 with a massive volunteer tree planting project in Saint Paul along the riverfront and West Side Flats. We have since engaged our communities in the restoration of approximately 45,000 acres at nearly 400 sites throughout Minnesota.
Great River Greening’s team has expertise in ecosystem management, environmental stewardship, and community-building. To achieve our vision of healthy, climate change resilient ecosystems throughout Minnesota, we center our work on projects that will build and preserve healthy, adaptive habitats that can withstand the effects of climate change.
