Seeing shovels in the ground is the perfect way to kick off the workweek! Graham Manufacturing, a global leader in the design and manufacture of mission-critical fluid, power, heat transfer, and vacuum technologies for the defense, space, energy, and process industries, held a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the company’s $17.6 million investment in Batavia, NY. Dan Thoren, Graham Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Our new facility will play a key role in enhancing our operational capabilities, providing the expanded capacity to accelerate production to meet our customers’ growing requirements, particularly the U.S. Navy. Moreover, it will enable us to make a positive impact on the Batavia community.” Once this state-of-the-art facility is operational, Graham plans to create 24 new full-time positions. Mentors and economic development partners from across Greater Rochester, Syracuse, and Southern Tier came together today to kick off the Grow-NY Food and Agriculture competition. From a pool of 312 applicants from around the world, 20 innovative companies have been selected to compete for $3M in cash prizes. The $3M in prize money is distributed among seven winners, including a $1M top prize, two $500,000 awards, and four $250,000 prizes. Past Grow NY participants, including Crover, Norwhey, Re-Nuble, and SoFresh, Inc., have grown in the Greater #RochesterNY region to tap into the highly skilled workforce, world-class R&D, and rich agriculture available to support them.
