Hello, new! Hanbury is excited to unveil a reimagined visual identity that embodies our journey and ethos. Our collaboration with Base Design has been a reflective exercise, distilling the essence of what makes Hanbury unique—where thoughtful, honest design meets the places we care about. Our refreshed visual identity reflects our evolution—simple yet robust. Conceptualized as a living gallery of our projects, our process, and our people, it’s a celebration of where we’ve come from and a bold step into the future we are shaping. Through acting with empathy, planning adaptably, and designing holistically we deliver ideas with stretch. Welcome to the new Hanbury.
About us
Environments should be designed to inspire personal growth. Driven by global thinking and local impact, Hanbury designs environments for people. With practical optimism, we push the boundaries of what’s possible while staying rooted in what’s indispensable. We design experiences that naturally draw people in – ones that are curated, aspirational, and a refreshing departure from the ordinary. Through acting with empathy, planning adaptably, and designing holistically we deliver ideas with stretch

Happy (last day of) #EOMonth! Since our founding in 1979, Hanbury has prioritized a culture where every voice matters. Just over a year ago, we reaffirmed this commitment by transitioning to 100% employee ownership through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This change ensures that everyone truly has a seat at the table, integrating ownership at every level of our operations. At Hanbury, we are all stakeholders in our collective future, bringing our unique skills and perspectives as co-creators. You can learn more about the impact of the ESOP at Hanbury, here: https://lnkd.in/e5EA6tPn #employeeownership #ESOP #OneHanbury

Hanbury, in collaboration with Virginia Sea Grant, is now accepting applications for the Spring 2025 Research Fellowship—a program focused on designing for resilience and developing innovative solutions to address climate change impacts. The Fellowship provides opportunities for talented and curious individuals to explore nuanced questions and ideas about the future of our built environment. It looks to identify how the intersections of culture, society, natural environment, financial structures, and climate impacts play a role in our decisions as designers. Fellows will be selected to participate in a year-long research design project from January to December. They will work remotely during their fellowship but have the flexibility to work within our offices during their tenure. Interested in this opportunity? "The University of Virginia is deeply embedded in the nation's founding democratic ideas and principles. The idea that citizens should be engaged and informed is absolutely essential to that. And that's what makes the University of Virginia the perfect place for the Karsh Institute of Democracy building." - Melody Barnes, Executive Director of the Karsh Institute of Democracy. This week, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the University of Virginia's Karsh Institute of Democracy, designed collaboratively with Höweler+Yoon Architecture, LLP. A landmark for democratic discourse, echoed by Jefferson's Rotunda, the new facility is envisioned as an educational ecosystem poised to unite faculty, students, the community, and visitors. Explore the project's heart and vision with the compelling video created by Hanbury's talented in-house Visualization Studio.
