Working Together to Improve Access to Health Care
About us
The Healthy Capital District (HCD) started with a small group of public health leaders discussing how the capital region could be more effective in identifying and addressing public health problems. More than 25 years later, we are an incorporated not-for-profit that has helped over 150,000 needy children and adults in the Capital Region get health services that they might not have accessed otherwise. By working together, area hospitals, health insurers, county health departments, catholic charities, and others have been able to determine some of the major barriers to health services and develop initiatives to greatly reduce them. Our current initiatives include health planning, facilitated enrollment for public health insurance, elementary school-based preventive oral services, and reducing minority health disparities.

There's still time to register for tomorrow's event! Join us for “Supporting Special Populations from Prevention to Treatment” on Tuesday, September 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Schenectady Public Library. CEs are FREE! Plus, you can still attend virtually if that's more convenient! A critical aspect of providing care is support focused on where the individual lands in either their thinking around substance use, such as in prevention, or coming to a space where they would like to engage in treatment. Register for the live event at: https://buff.ly/3XzcPpu To attend virtually, email cdunn-herrera@hcdiny.org Opioid Response Network Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
