To help enrich and lengthen the special relationship between people and their pets

About us

Work that matters, fueled by passion for pets! At Hill’s we have a purpose. Every day around the world, we transform the lives of millions of pet families through pioneering innovation, science-led nutrition and the best and brightest people. Did you know that the work we do today was originally inspired by Buddy, a guide dog who was suffering from kidney failure in the late 1930s? Dr. Mark Morris Sr. believed the illness was a result of poor nutrition, so he developed a new pet food to help Buddy live a longer, healthier life. That pet food was the forerunner of Hill’s Prescription Diet® k/d® Canine. Dr. Morris was a caring veterinarian, a visionary for clinical nutrition and the founder of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. We are proud to carry on his tradition of caring and his commitment to transforming lives through the highest-quality pet nutrition available. In fact, our mission is “to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.” Hill's® Science Diet®, Prescription Diet® and Ideal Balance® brand pet foods are sold in more than 86 countries, with total annual sales of more than $2 billion. We share our core values of Caring, Global Teamwork and Continuous Improvement with our parent company, Colgate-Palmolive. Our support to homeless pets and shelters is a living, breathing example of our values, and we are an industry leader in providing pet food to shelter animals around the world. Our Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has donated more than $300 million worth of food to shelters and has helped more than 12 million pets find their forever home! • 🐶 Did you know Hill’s Pet Nutrition began with a mission to save a life? 🦮 Our story started with Buddy, the first-ever Seeing Eye® dog, whose failing kidney health led to a groundbreaking partnership between Morris Frank and Dr. Mark Morris Sr.. Together, they developed a specially formulated diet that not only helped Buddy but laid the foundation for Hill’s commitment to science-led pet nutrition. From that moment, Hill’s has dedicated itself to improving the lives of pets through innovation, research, and collaboration with veterinary professionals worldwide. Today, we continue to advance pet health with the same passion that started it all. 📽️ Watch the video to learn more about how one dog’s story changed pet nutrition forever. • 🐾 Meet our Pet of the Month: Nietje! 🐾 But first, we mustache you a question! Does this kitty have a distinguishing feature? We think so! Nietje may have been named after the famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (thanks to her distinguished mustache and mistaken identity as a male), but her personality is all her own! When her family discovered she was a female, they gave her the charming name "Nietje," which also means "staple" in Dutch. Nietje's favorites: 🧶 Greeting humans with purrs and hand-licks. 🧶Showing her inner princess by demanding hand-fed meals. 🧶 Keeping other cats and dogs at a respectful distance (because, priorities). Nietje is adored by her pet parent, Annisa Andhini, a Product & Process Engineer at the Hill’s Pet Nutriton poduction site in Etten-Leur, Netherlands.
