It’s International Day of the Girl Child! While students around the world were heading back to school 🌍, 122 million girls were left behind. We’re working with communities to open doors to education for thousands of vulnerable girls determined to have equal opportunities for a better future. ✨ Our team in Kano State, Nigeria, witnessed 6,187 out-of-school girls across 50 communities now in the classroom getting an education. In one school in Rano, girls’ enrollment surged 109%! Girls’ life skills and aspirations dramatically increased, as well as their family’s aspirations for them. Over 4,000 out-of-school boys are also now enrolled. Some communities are building new classrooms to accommodate the growing number of students eager to learn. These aren't just statistics - these are lives that are being transformed. 👧🏾 👧🏾 👧🏾 Ruqayyah, Aisha, and Hafsa made history by being the first girls from their community in Northern Nigeria to sit for technical school exams in at least 5 years. 🏆 We're also seeing exciting outcomes in Kenya. 👧🏾 Nayanna is a tenacious grade 7 student from Kajiado, Kenya. She is also a young mother who was determined to return to school after giving birth. Her family did not want her to go back to school, but after watching our life skills TV series My Better World, her community rallied around her. Thanks to her teacher mentor, classmates, and her own resolve, Nayanna is excelling in her studies and inspiring everyone around her with her unbreakable spirit. 🌟 Every day in the communities in which we work, more girls are staying in school, child marriages are being prevented, and entire communities are seeing the value of educating their daughters. #Dayofthegirl #Internationaldayofthegirl #GirlsEducation #EducationForAll #EqualOpportunities #EmpoweringGirls #BreakingBarriers #BackToSchool #InclusiveEducation #FutureLeaders #EducationMatters #InvestInGirls #YouthEmpowerment #NigeriaEducation #KenyaEducation #GlobalEducation
