The #ISSB was called on by the market and international policy makers to deliver an efficient reporting landscape, ending the alphabet soup of voluntary initiatives and meeting investor demand for decision-useful, comparable information. The ISSB remains committed to serving as an anchor in the sustainability disclosure landscape, working closely with partners around the world to drive efficiencies. We deliver this through: ⏫ Consolidation – of #SASB (SASB Standards), #TCFD, Climate Disclosure Standards Board #CDSB and Integrated Reporting materials. 🤝 Establishing the ISSB as the sister board of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) – making sure the ISSB Standards work especially well with the requirements of the #IASB, while useable alongside any generally accepted accounting principles. 🔗 Supporting connections – through tools such as the #IntegratedReporting Framework and the Management Commentary Practice Statement. ✔️ Interoperability – with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) #GRI, #ESRS and the US SEC. 📊 Through the ISSB Standard’s climate-related standard is becoming a basis for other initiatives – such as CDP, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB). ✳️ Driving harmonisation in the landscape – through a number of strategic relationships. Watch this video to find out more about the ISSB’s role. 👇 #ISSBStandards #IFRSSustainability

The #ISSB commends the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan(SSBJ)for pursuing its policy to design SSBJ Standards to be aligned with ISSB Standards and on the extent of alignment achieved. The release of SSBJ Standards designed to provide outcomes functionally aligned with ISSB Standards represents a significant milestone in promoting global comparability of sustainability-related disclosures for capital markets. We applaud this important development and look forward to continuing our engagement with the SSBJ, Japanese stakeholders and the Japanese regulatory authorities as they determine the application of SSBJ Standards.
The Sustainability Standards Board of Japan(SSBJ)has announced the publication of the “Schedule of Differences between ISSB Standards and SSBJ Standards.” The contents of this document have been confirmed by the Financial Accounting Standards Foundation(FASF), the mother organization of the SSBJ, and the IFRS Foundation, the mother organization of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). SSBJ Standards were issued on March 5, 2025. In developing SSBJ Standards, the SSBJ decided, as its basic policy, to align its sustainability disclosure standards with IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards). The “Schedule of Differences between ISSB Standards and SSBJ Standards” allows readers of this document to understand the degree of alignment between SSBJ Standards and ISSB Standards. The SSBJ also published the “Table of Concordance between ISSB Standards and SSBJ Standards.” This document illustrates whether and if so where each paragraph in ISSB Standards is incorporated in SSBJ Standards. Yasunobu Kawanishi, Chair of the SSBJ stated: “It is with great pleasure that we have agreed on the contents of the ‘Schedule of Differences,’ and we are grateful for the ISSB’s support in reaching this milestone. Constituents have asked for this information and can now use this document to understand the degree of alignment between SSBJ Standards and ISSB Standards. Our goal is to achieve comparability of information resulting from applying the standards, and we are committed to monitoring how disclosure practices develop within and outside of Japan in the coming years.” Sue Lloyd, Vice-Chair of the ISSB stated: “The ISSB commends the SSBJ for pursuing its policy to design SSBJ Standards to be aligned with ISSB Standards and on the extent of alignment achieved. The release of SSBJ Standards designed to provide outcomes functionally aligned with ISSB Standards represents a significant milestone in promoting global comparability of sustainability-related disclosures for capital markets. We applaud this important development and look forward to continuing our engagement with the SSBJ, Japanese stakeholders and the Japanese regulatory authorities as they determine the application of SSBJ Standards.” SSBJ Standards are available in the Japanese language only. Nevertheless, for the convenience of English speakers, the “Schedule of Differences between ISSB Standards and SSBJ Standards” and “Table of Concordance between ISSB Standards and SSBJ Standards” are published in the English language as well. In November 2024, the IFRS Foundation published a comprehensive guide to help companies identify the sustainability-related risks and opportunities to report on and the material information to provide. 📺 We have now made available a new webcast featuring ISSB Vice-Chair Sue Lloyd, ISSB Technical Director David Bolderston and ISSB Technical Fellow Dianora Aria De Marco, CPA. The webcast covers how companies can use the guide to identify sustainability-related risks and opportunities and material information. The webcast also includes practical examples from the guide. Throughout the guide there are: 🔹 Connectivity considerations a company might make to drive connectivity between sustainability-related financial disclosures and its financial statements; 🔹 Interoperability considerations for preparers applying ISSB Standards alongside the ESRS or GRI Standards; and 🔹 Practical examples that bring the concepts in the educational material to life.
