We are thrilled to announce that Tom Falcone has been elected to serve as LPPC’s new President, effective January 1. Tom has a deep understanding of the public power sector, having served as the former chief executive and chief financial officer of the Long Island Power Authority for close to a decade and as an advisor to the industry before that during his tenure at Morgan Stanley. Tom has been at the helm for complex, critical shifts in our industry, and his experience makes him exceptionally well-suited to advance public power’s priorities in Washington, D.C. John Di Stasio will remain LPPC President until the end of the year, with Tom serving as President-Elect during this transition period. LPPC is honored to have Tom lead us through this pivotal, exciting time for public power! See the full press release here: https://bit.ly/3ZBcVOc #publicpower #energyfuture #energy #utilities

LPPC joined the United States Energy Association Energy-Tech Connect Forum yesterday, where Tom Falcone, LPPC’s President-Elect, and Javier Fernandez, LPPC Vice Chair and CEO of Omaha Public Power District, shared insights on load growth alongside Dan R. Brouillette, President and CEO of Edison Electric Institute, and Marc Reitter, President and COO of AEP Ohio. Javier noted that as the CEO of a utility that must double its generation capacity by the decade's end to meet unprecedented demand, he is encouraged by the positive economic implications of expansion. And although dealing with increasing load growth can be challenging for utilities, it’s undeniable that utilities play an essential role in fostering economic progress. When the conversation turned to how leaders in Washington, D.C., could support utilities as they work to meet demand, Tom shared examples of public power systems that are building new infrastructure as fast as possible despite being encumbered by the current system’s inefficiencies. He emphasized the need for streamlined permitting and siting processes to help utilities meet growing demand and advance decarbonization efforts. Thank you to USEA President Mark W. Menezes for hosting yesterday's event and moderating the panel discussion. #reliability #energyfuture #cleanenergy #energydemand #publicpower

During this devastating hurricane season, many across the Southeast have felt the impact of #HurricaneMilton. We extend our gratitude to LPPC members and to electric utilities nationwide for their unwavering efforts to restore power and provide #mutualaid. Our thoughts are with the affected communities as they continue their recovery. #PublicPower #CommunityResilience
Even though #HurricaneMilton derailed our recognition of #PublicPowerWeek, we were reminded of the strength of public power. We want to express our gratitude to our crews and mutual aid partners who helped us get the lights back on. We also want to acknowledge and appreciate all of our dedicated employees behind the scenes who handled the many other tasks involved in hurricane recovery. Finally, we want to thank our customers who weathered this storm alongside us. It's a honor to serve you! #FLPublicPower #OUCProud #CommunityPowered
