NYPA is the nation's largest state power organization, serving government, not-for-profit, and business customers.
About us
The New York Power Authority is the nation's largest state public power organization, with 17 generating facilities and more than 1,550 circuit-miles of transmission lines. More than 70 percent of the electricity we produce is clean renewable hydropower. NYPA is a leader in promoting energy efficiency, new energy technologies and electric transportation initiatives. Our lower-cost power production and electricity purchases support hundreds of thousands of jobs throughout the state. Our business customers range from Fortune 100 giants competing in international markets to small manufacturing or service firms that are vital to local economies. We sell power to government agencies; to community-owned electric systems and rural electric cooperatives; to job-producing companies; to private utilities for resale—without profit—to their customers; and to neighboring states, under federal requirements. Our team connected with leaders and innovators this week at the The Business Council of Westchester's Clean Energy Action Conference in Ossining. Girish Behal PMP, Vice President of Projects and Business Development at NYPA, spoke about NYPA’s leading role in large-scale infrastructure projects that drive affordable #cleanenergy and #economicdevelopment. Girish highlighted the Propel NY Energy project, a transmission project collaboration of NYPA and New York Transco, to enhance the downstate and statewide grid, and discussed our expanded authority to support #workforcedevelopment and #renewableenergy projects. The event also featured remarks from Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins and Doreen Harris, President and CEO of NYSERDA, and clean energy business leaders across the county further underscoring the region’s example-setting commitment to clean energy. #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #NYPA #RenewableEnergy #EconomicDevelopment #PublicPrivatePartnerships #EnergyInnovation

Governor Hochul values the skills, dedication, and experience federal employees bring to public service. That’s why she’s launching a new campaign to recruit people who recently lost their federal jobs and have them apply for jobs in New York State government. https://lnkd.in/eGdTihiv

For #ThrowbackThursday, we’re spotlighting two pioneering women, featured in the May 21, 1956 issue of the Watertown Daily Times, who broke barriers at the St. Lawrence Power Project. Margaret Holcomb, R.N., and Dr. Ellen Rochford took on non-traditional roles at NYPA, setting the stage for the many women who continue to thrive in all areas of our operations today. Read on to learn more about their impact and how NYPA’s commitment to empowering women has grown through programs like Women in Power and Advancing Women Executives.
