~How to handle loneliness~ We all experience loneliness at some point in our lives. Sometimes it happens when we’re spending too much time alone — but we can also feel lonely even when surrounded by other people. Loneliness can often result from big life changes like a breakup or move, the loss of a loved one, or feeling like we don’t have close people to turn to in our daily lives. Here are 5 ways to start feeling more connected: 1. Reach out to friends and family. That could mean reconnecting with people you’ve lost touch with just to say hi. 2. Make new friends. Join clubs or groups, take a class, or volunteer. 3. Practice self-care. Nutrition, exercise, and sleep can help balance out your mood. 4. Find a hobby. Hobbies can give you a sense of purpose, distraction, and comfort during lonely times. 5. Try more positive self-talk. If your brain says things like, “No one likes me,” try replacing it with something compassionate, like: “I am worthy of love and connection.” If someone in your organization is feeling lonely or overwhelmed, they don’t have to face it alone. Wave’s mental health coaches are here for support. ~Overthinking everything?~ Do you ever find yourself stuck in a loop, worrying about every little detail? Constantly overanalyzing and second-guessing yourself? You’re not alone. Picture this: You have a big presentation at the end of the week. But instead of preparing for it, you keep thinking about every possible way it could go wrong. You worry about forgetting key points, stumbling, or not being good enough. This endless cycle of thoughts makes you anxious and less focused. Here’s some good news: Recognizing the pattern can help you break out of it. If overthinking and fear of failure are holding your employees back, Wave’s mental health coaches are here to help. ~5 Simple Habits to Feel Better Every Day~ By adding a few simple habits, your employees can start each day on a positive note and set the tone for a productive and rewarding day. Go ahead, share these with your team: 1. Start Your Day with Gratitude Each morning, take a moment to think about what you're thankful for, whether it's your health, your family, or something as simple as your morning coffee. 2. Stay Hydrated Your body is like a plant. With regular watering, it perks up. Drinking enough water improves mood, reduces headaches, helps concentration, and gives you the energy boost you need. 3. Exercise Regularly Stroll around the park, walk your dog, go dancing or swimming. If you’re new to exercise, start small — even 10 minutes a day can make a difference. 4. Take Breaks and Rest Our bodies and minds need time to recharge. Taking breaks throughout the day can improve your concentration, energy, productivity, and mood. 5. Reflect and Plan for Tomorrow At the end of each day, reflect: What went well? Maybe you finished a project, ran into an old friend, or enjoyed a good meal. Then, plan for tomorrow. Make a simple to-do list. Prioritize it so you feel more organized and less stressed in the morning. Wave’s mental health providers are here to help your employees put these simple but effective skills into practice. Get the deep sleep your body needs~ Deep sleep is a crucial part of our sleep cycle — it’s when our bodies do most of the healing and repair work. Without enough deep sleep, people can feel tired and groggy, even after a full night's rest. It can also affect mood, memory, and overall health. So, how can you help your employees get the deep sleep they need to thrive? Pass along these 5 tips: 1. Create a sleep-friendly environment. Keep the bedroom cool, quiet, and dark. Declutter and limit electronics. 2. Wind down before bed. A soothing bedtime routine could mean reading a book, taking a warm bath, or doing some simple breathing or stretching. (No phone, no work.) 3. Nourish your body. Eating a healthy balanced diet and hydrating during the day can help you fall and stay asleep. 4. Get moving. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Try to exercise earlier in the day (not too close to bedtime). 5. Get technology on your side. White noise machines, sleep-tracking apps, and blue light filters can be your friend. Wave’s mental health coaching is a secret weapon when it comes to deep sleep. Our coaches are here to help your employees get the deep and restorative rest they need. 📢 Exciting News from mpathic & Wave! We're thrilled to share that Wave has partnered with mpathic, which was awarded the highly competitive NIH SBIR grant for their groundbreaking project, "Empathy for Everyone: Generative AI that Improves Patient-Provider Cultural Attunement in Real Time." mpathic, a leader in AI-powered actionable conversation analytics, aims to address racial bias in mental healthcare AI. This NIH grant will fund the expansion of mpathic's generative AI tools to enhance cultural attunement between mental health providers and patients. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in mental healthcare for underserved racial and ethnic populations and potentially improve therapeutic outcomes and patient satisfaction. mpathic's collaboration with Wave, a culturally competent mental health care provider, will utilize data from 300 health coaching sessions to refine their AI model. So many of the care providers we work with are making a difference in how healthcare is accessed, priced and delivered more equitably. But it’s undeniable that every time I’m on a call with Wave , I know we’re working on something special. Wave has recently partnered with mpathic to address racial bias in healthcare AI large language models (LLMs). As Wave founder/CEO Sarah Adler, PsyD mentions, there are “huge numbers of GenAI products flooding the market to help increase access that are trained on models that aren't reliably attuned to those who are most in need of care. This could do more harm than good.” More below in Healthcare Innovation’s coverage, and congratulations to the mpathic team on their NIH SBIR grant!

Wave is incredibly excited to be partnered with mpathic to help eliminate racial bias from healthcare LLMs through the award of an NIH SBIR grant led by the incredible Alison Cerezo and their team at mpathic. Racial and ethnic minorities have higher rates of mental illness and are less likely to be able to access high-quality care. There are huge numbers of GenAI products flooding the market to help increase access that tare trained on models that aren't reliably attuned to those who are most in need of care. This could do more harm than good. mpathic, led by CEO Grin Lord is the first company to build conversation analytics to detect and correct cultural attunement, to be used in both technological and human interactions. Wave is thrilled to be helping to power the training of these models with our anonymized user data. “There are ways that people are developing apps off the cuff, which can be dangerous and scary,” Alison Cerezo said. “That is why we were incredibly careful to choose Wave as our data partner, because Sarah Adler, PsyD's built a really wonderful company. Sarah's a licensed clinical psychologist. I am as well. We understand on the clinical front the barriers that prevent providers from being able to deliver quality care, but also barriers of the system itself. So this is one of our ways of being able to integrate into systems to ensure that AI can do good by providers and good by patients.” “As a potential future customer of this product that we are working together to build, I would say that is a little bit of a chicken-and-egg situation," Adler added. "They're partnering with us because they understand the robust clinical quality of our service delivery model; we will then ultimately want to partner with them because their data is actually built on a robust clinical model. So we are investing in building something that will eventually help us leap forward into the future in terms of using generative AI, which is very much within our roadmap, but ensuring that we're using a product like an mpathic product, which has the robust clinical validity that underlies the modeling.” Thanks to David Raths and Healthcare Innovation for the coverage. https://lnkd.in/g5QpvE6y Alison Pickover Kristina Kroot, MBA Tali Beesley #culturalattunment #mentalhealthishealth #genAI

Need help breaking a bad habit? How many times have you tried to stop vaping, smoking, biting your nails, or scrolling endlessly on your phone, only to find yourself right back where you started? Breaking bad habits can be hard. Depending on the person and the habit they're trying to kick, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. If your employees need support breaking bad habits, here are 4 tips to help them succeed: 1. Find a “replacement behavior.” If stress is your cue for vaping, what will you do next time you’re stressed? Will you go for a short walk? Call a friend? Drink water? Take a few deep breaths? 2. Remember your “why.” When you’re connected to your reason for wanting to break the habit, you’re more likely to be successful. “I want to stop vaping because it’s damaging my health.” 3. Call in support. Sharing your goals with others can help you stay accountable. It’s also key to have compassionate support during harder moments and celebration for your wins. 4. Be gentle with yourself. Habit-breaking could take weeks or months depending on how complex the behavior is and how strong the habit is when you start. Give yourself plenty of time to adjust. Wave mental health coaches are behavior change experts, so they can help your employees break even the most stubborn habits.
