mpathic is proud to announce it has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program in collaboration with Wave , which will support our work in addressing racial bias in healthcare. With this effort, we aim to understand and significantly reduce the barriers that racial and ethnic minorities face when seeking mental health services. Leading our research is Dr. Alison Cerezo, mpathic's SVP of Research & Health Equity, whose work is grounded in the integration of clinical expertise and cultural insight. "There are ways that people are developing apps off the cuff, which can be dangerous and scary," Dr. Cerezo explains. "We recognize the barriers that prevent providers from delivering quality care. Therefore, this project is one of our strategies to integrate solutions into systems, ensuring that AI can benefit both providers and patients effectively." The transformative potential of generative AI in enhancing access to care is immense, provided it is developed with consideration and responsibility. In partnership with Wave, we are establishing enhanced conversation analytics that accurately capture the essence of culturally competent communication. The anonymized data provided by Wave plays a crucial role in refining our models to achieve these objectives. Echoing this commitment to innovation, Sarah Adler, PsyD from Wave emphasizes the necessity for advancements in generative AI to have clinical validity at their core, signaling the potential of such technology to fundamentally change mental health services. We appreciate Healthcare Innovation and journalist David Raths for featuring our joint initiative. https://lnkd.in/ecBDQqeM At mpathic, we are committed to pushing forward with our collaboration with Wave, facing the challenge head-on to ensure that generative AI serves as a beneficial tool in healthcare, paving the way for quality, empathy-driven care for all. #mpathic #HealthcareInnovation #MentalHealthEquity #GenerativeAI
