This week marks one year since I released my memoir, “Shadowed: How I Became the Sex Trafficked Mother Next Door.” I never thought I would share my story with so many people—and it wasn’t easy. It took years for me to get to a place where I felt comfortable and safe enough to share some of the darkest parts of my life. Was it worth it? Absolutely. It’s been one of the (hardest) most rewarding things I’ve ever done, and I’m so grateful to my husband, my family, and everyone else who made this book a reality.
