Thanks to your support, we accomplished a lot last year! Check out our 2023 Annual Report now on our website or by flipping through the document below. Our theme for 2023 was "mise en place," a culinary term for putting things in place—something we have been very focused on over the past year. As we grow to meet our community's needs, it is important that our foundation is solid and that processes and procedures are in place so that we may grow with intention and remain true to our mission. Thank you for volunteering, donating, following, and sharing so we can continue this work. #daytonohio #annualreport #hunger #hungerrelief #foodrescue #food #culinaryarts #miamivalley #community #endhunger #nonprofit

A chef-led effort to recover and transform food into free meals for distribution in Dayton, Ohio.
About us
In the wake of the pandemic, a small team of furloughed culinary professionals came together to volunteer as emergency support for local pantries. Responding to increasing need; the team expanded, gained funding and evolved with tremendous community support. Today, Miami Valley Meals is a chef-led effort to recover and transform donated food into prepared meals for distribution through nonprofits serving the hungry, free of charge. Our innovative “recover and transform” model allows our chefs to intercept food that may otherwise be wasted and redistribute it to those in need by transforming ingredients into hearty, delicious meals. By utilizing existing organizations as distribution points, we are able to impact multiple communities simultaneously. Our meals fill a gap in local pantries by providing additional options for those who may not have the time or resources to cook full meals. MVM meals free up resources for the nonprofits to connect individuals to other wrap around services.

The AES Ohio team brought the energy ⚡️ when they visited the kitchen last week! These high-powered 💥volunteers helped us prepare over a thousand meals 🍽️ for the community. Thank you AES Ohio!
The AES Ohio Regulatory team recently spent a rewarding day volunteering at Miami Valley Meals (MVM), where they rolled up their sleeves to support an incredible cause. From washing potatoes and cutting vegetables to packaging meals, our team was all hands on deck! Together, nutritious meals featuring veggies, cobbler, rice, and sausage gravy were prepared. MVM is a vital organization that transforms donated food from community partners into healthy, delicious meals. These meals are then distributed through a network of nonprofit partners across 27 zip codes. We're proud to support MVM's mission of feeding those in need and making a positive impact in our community.

Did you know we’ve washed all our dishes by hand all this time? Danny is a machine, but we figured it’s time he had some help from an actual machine. Thanks to funding from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services via our friends at La Soupe, Inc., we finally have a dishwasher! We’re always trying to increase efficiency so we can prepare more meals - and this is a big step forward. #AlwaysImproving #DannyAppreciationPost #RescueTransformShare #DaytonOhio

Thank you to NCR Country Club for becoming a Miami Valley Meals partner! Sustainability is always top of mind for our MVM team, which is why we support the Hall Hunger Initiative’s campaign to promote shopping local for your grocery needs! Did you know that in the US, food travels an average of 1,500 miles from farm to table? Buying local cuts down on these miles, and the CO2 emissions that come with them. Support local farmers and help the planet! #EatFreshBuyLocal #FarmToTable #ClimateAction #LocalFood #SustainableLiving
