Midi Health is honored to be one of the three organizations selected to present at this week’s Health Plan Innovation Roundtable (HPIR) Academy Showcase. Among other objectives, this event aims to spotlight solutions that address pertinent health plan challenges, exhibit unique innovation, and demonstrate current or potential data regarding ROI, clinical outcomes, and engagement. We proudly reported on our remarkable patient symptom reductions and decreases in total cost of care. Recognitions like this sure are nice. But the most rewarding aspect is witnessing how open the healthcare and enterprise leaders in attendance are to new ideas and the proactive advancement of patient care. As the leading virtual clinic for women in perimenopause and menopause, Midi gives women access to expert, holistic midlife care they struggle to get in traditional settings. Pssst, Gen Xers and older Millennials, got a sec? The years between 40 and 65 are kind of a big deal for your brain. A recent review published in Trends in Neurosciences found: * There are linear and non-linear brain changes in this window that may pave the way for your cognitive health as an older adult. * You're likely to experience pivotal life changes that can impact brain aging (caring for children or aging parents, retirement). * Your brain health is affected by the way your other systems age (especially your cardiovascular system). The authors, from University College Cork, raise some important questions to those in the field, noting that more research is needed to find out if interventions being tested in older adults could prevent cognitive decline if started in middle age. And it's also a rallying cry for those of us in midlife to consider how we want to grow older. In recent years, we’ve learned so much about how important modifiable risk factors are to longevity and cognition, and our 40s, 50s, and 60s are the perfect time to build healthier habits that will serve our brains well as we age. So today, on World Brain Day, let's review some of these best practices to protect thinking and memory! 🧠 Get blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol levels under control. 🧠 Ditch bad habits like smoking, drinking, and eating too much processed food. 🧠 Sort out your sleep (not too little, not too much), try different approaches to manage stress (find what works best for you), and make more time to connect with friends and loved ones (staying social is crucial). 🧠 Stay physically active. 🧠 Eat more plants (especially greens, berries, beans, and nuts), and pour on the EVOO. 🧠 Keep your mind challenged with stimulating work, hobbies you love, and learning new things. 🧠 Prioritize your hearing. Wear earplugs at concerts and other noisy environments, don't blast your AirPods, and get hearing aids if you need them. 🧠 Pay attention to emotional health. Seek help for depression and anxiety. 🧠 And, if you're in the menopause transition, talk to your doctor about ways to manage symptoms, or connect with clinicians at our partner Midi Health, who can give you Neurotrack’s screening to check on brain fog and help you manage it. More info in comments. #brainhealth #healthtech #genx #millennials

How bad is menopause, really?, asks (and answers) the Mayo Clinic in a recent article. For some (the lucky few) it can be rather uneventful. For others, debilitating. But wherever people fall on that spectrum, there’s an age-old response about the experience that many instinctively reach for: “I’m fine.” Old habits die hard. “For years, women going through menopause were dismissed as just being uncomfortable,” Denise Millstine, M.D., says in the article. “And women, being who we are, put our heads down and toughed it out.” Previous generations of women who suffered with menopause symptoms in silence (because, well, they felt there was no other choice) continue to influence the generation going through the transition today—particularly those who worry that stigma around menopause will affect their careers. Connecting these women with menopause care isn't just about granting access to treatment. It sends a message that they deserve to be their authentic selves, acknowledge their needs, and feel their best—and that you as a benefits provider/employer are invested in making sure that happens. #joinmidi #menopauseatwork #employeebenefits #menopausecare

What Midi patient Jeneca shared is so relatable—most women start off with hours (or years) of research and have to cipher between accurate solutions and misinformation when looking for adequate menopause care and symptom relief. That process can be draining *and* discourages many women from finding the care they need. That’s why Midi was created. To be a safe space for women looking to educate themselves on a life transition that’s been a mystery for generations *and* to provide effective treatment for all symptoms associated with peri/menopause. #JoinMidi #MidiHealth #menopause #perimenopause #healthcare #menopauseatwork

Providing specialized menopause benefits is a strategic move—not just “a nice thing” to offer female employees. And we’re 🥳 that more benefits providers are taking notice. It wasn’t too long ago that menopause was about as likely to come up in a conversation about work as snow falling in summer. Now, 15% of large organizations are offering/planning to offer related benefits (up from 4% last year). Progress. But connecting women with care they need is about more than just offering it to them. It’s about helping dispel misinformation and bust stigmas that often stand in the way of them engaging with it. Employers have an opportunity to do just that. Midi's founder and CEO Joanna Strober shared five tips on driving successful outcomes from a menopause benefits program with Employee Benefit News. These strategies can help ensure that whatever menopause solution you choose delivers both for your employees and your organization. #JoinMidi #menopauseatwork #employeebenefits #menopausecare

Every time I teach pathophysiology (which is often) and we get to the endocrine module, I tell my students that if I hadn't gone into OB/GYN I would have absolutely gone into endocrinology. I have always found hormones fascinating, but also have had such a passion for women's health, leading me to spend the majority of my career in traditional OB/GYN care. How cool is it that I now get to spend my days focusing on Women's Health with a special focus on hormone health, combining my two favorite areas as the Clinical Director with Midi Health. As I prep to record an updated diabetes lecture, I started poking into some information about menopause and diabetes. Imagine my surprise when I found that the American Diabetes Association not only recommends that women with diabetes talk to their providers about menopause, they acknowledge that menopause isn't typically talked about at routine visits. I am so proud to work with a company that fills this void in a comprehensive and convenient setting. Simply put, women are good for business. Research shows that workplaces with more female employees than average have more collaboration, organizational dedication, and profitability than those that don’t. Employees also find their jobs more meaningful and experience less burnout when there is a higher percentage of females in the workplace. We think it’s fair to assume that women in midlife—with their years of experience, knowledge, and relationship building—are all-stars behind these results. But women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are also struggling to deal with menopause symptoms like depression, hot flashes, and trouble sleeping, often with little to no support or understanding at work. According to a new survey of women ages 40 to 64 conducted by Bonafide Health, almost half of women say menopause impacts their job performance, and 76% have no workplace accommodations to help them. Here are some other standout findings: 50% of the respondents believe that experiencing menopause makes others view them as less productive and emotionally unstable in the workplace. More than 40% say menopause has inhibited their career ambitions. At Midi Health, our clinicians offer therapeutic care for women in perimenopause and menopause—women who overwhelmingly feel that their needs are dismissed or flat-out missed by the healthcare system. By listening to women and devising customized Care Plans, we treat symptoms they are often otherwise told to “just deal with.”  Support for women in menopause comes in many forms. And while we know that holistic menopause care can be significant, awareness, recognition, and compassion in the workplace are critical, too. #joinmidi #stateofmenopause #menopause #menopauseatwork

Employers: Women in your workplace need your help with something. It’s affecting their performance, their wellness, and even their perception of you. Almost 65% say they want related benefits, but only 14% think you’ve noticed. What’s more? They probably won’t ever say a thing about it. These are just some of the interesting findings that came out of a Bank of America and National Menopause Foundation survey on menopause in the workplace. One particularly important TLDR: There’s a good chance you and your female employees aren’t on the same page when it comes to how well your organization not only supports them but understands what they are dealing with when it comes to menopause. A few key points that grabbed our attention: ✴️ Half of women say menopause has had a negative impact on their work life, but their managers may not understand what they’re experiencing: Employers can list only half as many potential symptoms of menopause as female employees, on average. ✴️ 71% of benefits managers have a positive perception of their company’s menopause culture, but only 32% of female employees agree with them. Male employers are 10% more likely to have this view than female employers. ✴️ While more than three-fourths of benefits managers say they talk about menopause with employees, only 3% of employees say they’ve ever had discussions on the topic. Employers say the #1 reason they don’t offer menopause benefits is that employees don’t ask for them. Unfortunately, less than half feel comfortable bringing the subject up to HR, according to the survey. As the leading healthcare solution for women in midlife, Midi Health is dedicated to supporting the needs of women and shattering taboos associated with menopause to help them get the care they need. Your female employees may not be coming to you asking for perimenopause and menopause benefits. But, as this report reinforces, silence often speaks the loudest. Lorna Sabbia

We’re proud to announce that Midi Health and Keck Medicine of USC are collaborating to provide expert, specialized care for women in perimenopause and menopause.👏 Currently, a shocking 75% of women who seek menopause care don't get the treatment they need. Not only are these women missing out on much-needed relief from debilitating, demoralizing, and sometimes painful symptoms—they are also at an increased risk of future health conditions. Research shows that menopause care reduces the chance of developing heart disease, osteoporosis, dementia, and more, adding to a woman’s lifespan and healthspan. Midi’s collaboration with Keck Medicine of USC will help address a serious unmet need for midlife care by supporting women in the Los Angeles community. “We are excited to work with Keck Medicine of USC to close the gap in care for the millions of women who experience symptoms of menopause,” says Joanna Strober, Midi Health’s CEO and co-founder. “This program gives women access to the treatment they need at a crucial stage in their lives.” While we know that Midi patients appreciate the convenience and privacy of virtual visits, we also recognize that in-person care is a vital part of their medical support. Integrating with hospital systems lets us provide a seamless experience by sharing healthcare records, coordinating with your other providers, and avoiding replicated tests. Midi's virtual clinic offers high-touch virtual services for patients in Los Angeles while supporting their continued connection to the expertise and care of their Keck USC-affiliated physicians. Patients can easily access Midi’s care by going directly to joinmidi.com/km or getting a referral from their Keck Medicine of USC-affiliated physician.
