Last Thursday marked a milestone as we set the first homes where Module served as designer, general contractor, and manufacturer—a truly monumental moment! Each home was built with love and intention right here in Allegheny County. Experiencing Set Day alongside curious neighbors and stakeholders made the moment all the more powerful. Follow our #ConstructionUpdates on Instagram to see the process unfold from behind the scenes.

Building the future of attainable housing with a better process and a better product
About us
Module is a housing startup based in Pittsburgh. Our homes enhance the quality of life for people living in them, people building them, & communities surrounding them. We've developed a housing system that combines the benefits of offsite construction with the power of net zero ready design. The result is better-designed homes, built faster, with lower operating cost.

✅ first in the Hill ✅ first manufactured in Allegheny County AMANI CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORP and Module placed the first modular home in the Hill District last week at the intersection of Cliff St and Ledlie St. The frame of the home is fabricated off-site, shipped in, and placed on top of the concrete pad with a crane. We witnessed the first frame being placed here, and it was a new experience for all of us, including our Chief Housing Officer, Quianna Wasler. On top of all that, this modular home has some of the first boxes manufactured in Allegheny County. Based out of Garfield, Module used to ship the manufactured boxes from Harrisburg, but they love Pittsburgh and Allegheny County as much as we do and started manufacturing right at home. The URA helped play a role in this big moment. From a small business loan to Module almost 10 years ago to helping Amani CDC secure American Rescue Plan Act funding and Housing Opportunity Fund money to keep these homes affordable for Hill residents, we know that our small role will have a big impact in making Pittsburgh livable and affordable for all.

Module has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University researchers to develop a scalable and adaptable approach that leverages machine learning and augmented reality (AR) to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency by identifying and reducing production breaks. This approach aims to reduce production downtime, minimize waste, and boost output by identifying and addressing the root causes of production breaks in real-time. “Even before we started implementing the technology, the workforce education component [of the project] has had the biggest impact,” says Ankur Dobriyal.
Thanks to the support from the Manufacturing PA Innovation Program and our industry partners DMI Companies, Inc. and Module, Professor Burcu Akinci, Professor Ruoxin Xiong, Ph.D., Professor Yorie Nakahira, and Miaosi Dong have been developing intelligent production data analytics for accumulating production experiences of workers for intelligent training of new workers in saving time and materials. AI agents can capture and explain how specific interactions between the workers and manufacturing lines of building mechanical system components or modular building elements define tactics that can reduce trials and errors in setting up machines and prevent unexpected production stoppages due to machine maintenance issues. Special thanks to Doug Gudenburr, and Ankur Dobriyal for their continuous support and direction. https://lnkd.in/e4jJm-48

In our latest construction update, we’re excited to share that the Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) is now installed! The ERV acts as the lungs of the home, transferring heat energy between incoming and outgoing air streams. This not only keeps the indoor environment fresh and healthy but also helps the HVAC system work more efficiently, reducing energy costs and minimizing your carbon footprint. 🎬 Head over to Instagram for more #ConstructionUpdates https://lnkd.in/eFDGMUcA #HealthyHomes #SustainableLiving #IndoorAirQuality #LastMileFacility
