Day 2? Just as as epic. 🎉 Note: 🙋♀️ No one needed to be told to take time off to rest, connect, or work. The networking and hangout space at Spotlight Africa was designed with that in mind. A quick recap: ➡ Children's Dignity Forum (CDF) hosted an interactive session intended for changemakers and funders who have the African child at heart. During this session, CDF provided case studies of child sexual violence and its impact on education in Tanzania, as well as the strategies they’ve been using to tackle this challenge and what they’ve achieved so far. ➡ The Bridgespan Group, Spring Impact, and Warande Advisory Centre then came together to host a real-talk session that sought to challenge the status quo by exploring the transformative potential of intentional power shifts that direct funding to local and national actors. ➡ To explore the 'Transformative Impact of STEM and financial Stewardship on Education in Africa', ProjeKt Inspire, The Jenga Hub, and Elimu Fanaka Initiative led the session. This education-powered team hosted a discussion on the innovative strategies and initiatives driving change in the continent's educational landscape. ➡ Then came lunch, where attendees took the opportunity to meet more members of the Spotlight Africa community with networking activities organized by IDinsight. This informal event encouraged open conversations about the role of data and evidence in decision-making for grantees and impact investors. ➡ Uwezo Youth Empowerment then hosted a session on Disability and Inclusive Safeguarding. The session aimed to highlight the safeguarding gaps and risks for persons with disabilities and create a synergy for sharing practical experience among organizations, practitioners, doers, and donors. ➡ In terms of shaping the future, enjuba, Media Challenge Initiative, and Women In Technology Uganda came together to showcase their innovations and discuss these interconnected topics: early childhood innovations in Uganda, combating disinformation, and breaking barriers to advance women in technology. ➡ Lastly, Rippleworks and Solid'Africa hosted a session aptly named 'Big Bets and Bold Moves' that told the story of how Solid'Africa is closing the food access gap in public hospitals and schools in Rwanda while working closely with the Rwandan government. This session shared critical nuggets of wisdom unearthed by this 15-year collaboration.
