Pro Tours are great ways to get up close and personal with building projects, to talk to the folks that design and make them and outfit them, and to ask all your questions to the ones who know the answers! I'm eager to see this complicated one in person.

Join us on Sept 6th for a Pro Tour of a recently renovated historic building in New Haven, CT! During this event, attendees will learn how the project team transformed this building, originally a hotel from 1816, into a Passive House-certified commercial space while preserving its historic facade and place in the community. Our tour will begin with an opening presentation from the hosting team at Patriquin Architects, which will give attendees background on the historic significance of the building, the process of renovating it, and the efforts put into reaching the Passive House standard. After the opening presentation, we'll split into groups to hear from the professionals behind the project, who will share their specific work. After the tour, we'll host a reception and Q&A with the team. Key components of the design include a highly-insulated and airtight envelope, the use of triple-pane high-performance windows on the interior of the existing historic windows, new electric ERV heat pump systems for ventilation, heating, and cooling, and a solar array on the roof. Event Date: Friday, September 6, 2024 Time: 1pm-5pm Location: New Haven, CT CEU Information: AIA (pending) Cost: $25 Members/$35 Non-Members Learn more and register to join us here: https://lnkd.in/emPYpqcC

Thanks to Northeast Sustainable Energy Association for allowing us the opportunity to share the wonderful project we are designing in Reading Vermont. The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of learning from each other and it is great to see the pictures of the other stations in the house that I missed holding mine in the great room.

EPISODE 5 of the BuildingWell Podcast is out NOW! How do multifamily building owners typically choose a replacement hot water system, and why is this not the best practice? What does a hot water system have to do with a Ferrari? And what is the juiciest piece of savings owners can go after when replacing their systems? Join host Alina Michelewicz and co-host Michelle Moran as they speak to Energy Engineers Neil Donnelly, P.E. Donnelly and Charlie Simek about how real data from real buildings can guide more efficient and lower-cost system replacement, and how this can fit into a larger decarbonization plan. We explore the opportunities within recently monitored domestic hot water systems and the steps for owners, operators, engineers and utility program administrators. This episode was made possible by a Mass Save Community Education Grant. Listen and follow BuildingWell TODAY! Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Amazon Podcasts, Audacity, Pandora, and more! https://lnkd.in/gjHrCGWj

Great Northeast Sustainable Energy Association ProTour on Friday in Reading, VT. This deep energy retrofit of an 1782 home by Snowdog Construction with a new addition by Bensonwood brought together many of my favorite things: carbon sequestration, energy nerds, old houses, Yestermorrow Design/Build School alumni, Jacob Racusin making a special appearance by video to talk MEP systems and the crew from MATHES HULME BUILDERS, LLC came along for the tour as well. Fun stuff!

  • Join us for a summer Pro Tour of an integrated, mixed-use, phased development project encompassing nearly a full city block in Brooklyn, NY. This project, which will include four buildings when complete, provides an example of phased construction using common-sense sustainability measures for an underserved population.
