Marcius Extavour is a big brain. He doesn’t consume food or water, subsisting only on electricity and ideas. Marcius received his masters and doctorate in quantum optics and atomic physics from the University of Toronto, and was a AAAS Fellow in the US Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources. And then! Marcius was the Chief Scientist at XPRIZE and the Chief Climate Solutions Officer at TIME CO2. His work has been featured everywhere, including The Atlantic, The New York Times, and Nature Magazine. Plus, he's a thoughtful and kind person. We, at Ode, believe that Marcius can do for nature and technology what Neil deGrasse Tyson did for space and science. Translate the hard stuff for the rest of us.
NEWS: I'm excited to share that I have joined Ode as a Senior Partner! My focus here is on building solutions and products that touch climate, energy, and nature opportunities. Ode combines world-class data engineering and algorithm development, beautiful and intuitive digital design, and deep subject matter expertise. Ode has worked with clients like Al Gore on global projects like Climate TRACE. Application areas for ML, AI, and data engineering are expanding exponentially. In parallel, there's a growing need for excellent and relatable climate storytelling about solutions - how and when we make them, and for whom. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to do both at Ode with a great team. Now that I've fallen into these new superpowers in data and design, here are few topic areas I’m looking forward to working on, or diving back into: ♠ Industrial decarbonization ♠ Ocean data ♠ Renewable electricity ♠ Carbon removal and carbon management ♠ Quantum devices for climate solutions ♠ Methane leaks ♠ Creative arts + tech Let's build! 👷🏽♂️ 👨🏽💼 👨🏽🔬 And see you at New York Climate Week if not before.. Ps. I bid farewell to Los Angeles and decamped to the North Bay Area this summer. SF, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose peeps - looking forward to seeing you and being around more..
