We’re thrilled to see the Coastal Risk Index (CRI) go live! The CRI is a powerful, data-driven platform designed to empower financial institutions, investors, insurers, and policymakers with insights to assess coastal risk and make smarter decisions. Designing, building, and bringing this platform to life alongside the full Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance team has been an absolute pleasure. We’re proud to create digital tools that bridge data and impact for environmental resilience! Absolutely DELIGHTED to have announced that the Coastal Risk Index (#CRI) is now LIVE! 🙌 A personal journey that started in 2017 at a breakfast with Paul Jardine to incentivise investment into coastal ecosystems by valuing their risk reduction value. 📊 Backed by the Government of Canada, U.S. Department of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, AXA, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and the University of California, Santa Cruz, the CRI is an interactive platform harnessing the power of data to enable financial institutions, investors, insurers, and policymakers to better assess coastal risk and improve decision-making. 🌱 Among all larger countries in South America, Colombia has the potential to derive some of the highest benefits from investing in and restoring natural mangrove and coral ecosystems. They could protect up to USD $1.2 billion of assets against financial damage and 37,000 people from the risks of flooding. Thanks to the science prowess of Roshanka Ranasinghe and Michael Beck and their teams. Stephen Downs and his team at Ode and Cédric Marillat at Fugro for visualising the data. No small task!
