This year has been quite eventful in the world of tech hiring (per usual, right?) Nevertheless, the OutScout team has been hard at work - compiling our observations from the year thus far. 👇 2024 Trends: 🟣 This year has been all about teams closest to revenue, particularly sales and GTM teams. Companies are prioritizing hiring strong GTM professionals with proven track records to deliver on top line results. 🟣 The Office of the CFO is in high demand, with a strong emphasis on accounting and finance openings as businesses closely monitor their financials. 🟣 There has been an uptick in hiring for Product Managers, signaling a greater willingness to invest in R&D compared to the past year and a half. This is good news! 2024 Challenges: 🟣 Hiring teams are becoming more selective, which is important, but they must make decisions quickly. The "I want to see more" mentality can harm the hiring process and employer branding, leading candidates to accept offers elsewhere. 🟣 Talent teams are still striving to find a balance. Many companies have not fully recovered from reducing their hiring teams and tools in 2022-23, resulting in increased disorder in the hiring process. Looking ahead: 🟣 Anticipating strong hiring trends in specific industries utilizing AI, particularly in fintech and health tech 🟣 Could there be a slowdown leading up to the US election? Don't be afraid to get super specific in your search when sourcing talent. Instead of posting a job and filtering through countless applicants, start by defining the exact experience and skills required for the role. Align with your team to avoid wasting time on recalibrating later. Identify a targeted list of the top 10, then 50, then 100 people to reach out to. If you find yourself reaching out to hundreds of candidates, you may have cast the net too wide and risk spending too much time on outreach without seeing the desired results. 👉 Start narrow, then go wide. #sourcingtips #talentacquisition #techhiring

People want the full story. Painting a rosy picture only to have someone join and realize it's not at all what was pitched is only going to add to issues down the line. Transparency is key in hiring and setting realistic expectations upfront can lead to better long-term relationships with employees.
