Come explore our latest exhibit: Her Practice: The Architecture of Debora Reiser! The Pratt School of Architecture is hosting an exhibition of one of the first women graduates from the Bachelor of Architecture program at Pratt Institute. Curated by Jesse Reiser and Nanako Umemoto, the exhibition showcases Debora’s 75-year career in architecture, exemplifying an uncompromising commitment to a “feminist total design” at a time when women had yet to be fully accepted within the discipline and profession. Congratulations to UPM faculty Emily Ahn Levy 안은옥 and graduate student Ghuncha Shaheed on their 2024-2025 Taconic Fellowship!
I am pleased to announce that I have been awarded a 2024-2025 Taconic Fellowship from the Pratt Center for Community Development. Alongside student fellow Ghuncha Shaheed, I will be continuing work to support the Bangladeshi Ladies Club in Kensington, Brooklyn. Kantha and Visioning in Kensington: This project supports the Bangladeshi Ladies Club in Kensington, Brooklyn, by providing a safe space for Bangladeshi and South Asian immigrant women to build skills, address issues like isolation and mental health, and amplify their voices in a neighborhood where much of the organizing has been done by men. In architectural education, there is no more vulnerable moment than a midterm review. Ideas are just starting to emerge, the fog has begun to clear, but everything is fragile and uncertain. It’s also when the potential of each idea (and each student) seems limitless, every dream seems possible and drawable. I sat in two midterm reviews at Pratt Institute School of Architecture this fall, and saw genuinely wonderful work coming out of Clara Ha’s first year studio and Eunjeong Seong’s fourth year studio. Thanks to them both for inviting me to share in this brief and limitless moment.

Join us tonight at 6:15 PM for Unfinished - A Lecture by Billie Tsien! Life and architecture are not straight lines. This talk will discuss how practice shifts over time and how that changes the work, and ourselves. We will investigate how some principles remain static over time, serving as a foundation and guide, while some change form, gain strength, or fall to the wayside. Empowering the evolution of the creative process allows the work to continue throughout the changes of life. By reflecting on past work and discussing current and upcoming projects, Billie Tsien will engage with how her practice has and continues to shift and evolve. WHEN: THURS OCT 24, 2024 @ 6:15 PM WHERE: Higgins Hall Auditorium Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ekcenyjJ Billie Tsien is a founding partner of the New York-based practice Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects + Partners in 1986.
