About us
Public Impact’s mission is to improve education dramatically for all students, especially low-income students, students of color, and other students whose needs historically have not been well met. Public Impact’s work is designed to contribute to dramatic improvements in the quality of education and related policy supports in the United States. We are a team of professionals from many backgrounds, including former teachers. We are researchers, thought leaders, policy experts, tool-builders, and on-the-ground consultants who work with leading education reformers. We are the founders of the national Opportunity Culture initiative, which extends the reach of excellent teachers and their teams to more students, for more pay, within regular budgets. National Science Foundation (NSF) Invites Proposals for $35 Million for STEM Teacher Corps Pilots Please re-post and help spread the word: The National STEM Teacher Corps Pilot Program invites proposals from Regional Alliances to help elevate and support the STEM teachers, schools, school districts, and community partners they serve. $35,000,000 to support up to 10 Regional Alliances for an initial five years with the opportunity to extend the Alliances cooperative agreement up to 10 years. Anticipated Funding: Up to $5,000,000 for each of 5-year award. NSF also anticipates funding up to 15 planning grants. This NSF initiative honors and elevates outstanding STEM educators who promote equity in preK-12 education and provide professional development, mentorship, and support, particularly for teachers certified through non-traditional methods, to improve STEM teaching quality and preparedness. The National STEM Teacher Corps Pilot Program will focus on retaining excellent STEM teachers by further investing in their development and career paths. In turn, by enhancing high-quality STEM learning opportunities for students, the National STEM Teacher Corps Pilot Program will influence and expose students to career pathways in STEM and build a more scientifically informed society. Getting support from a peer that is in the trenches with you, is the way to do it. The state has taken steps to increase the number of districts that design Advanced Teacher Roles.
