Quantinuum, in collaboration with researchers from the The University of Freiburg, Germany and KAIST (the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), South Korea, has found a new way to certify entanglement – a key step in many quantum protocols. Read the scientific paper here: https://lnkd.in/evRz_-V6  Erwin Schrödinger famously said entanglement is “not one but rather the characteristic trait of quantum mechanics” and as we now know, it plays an important, if not critical role in quantum computing, quantum cryptography, quantum error correction, and crucial algorithms such as Shor’s. It could be said that entanglement is essential to the quantum operations that lie at the heart of all quantum computing. In this new work, our researchers and their collaborators have focused on entanglement connectivity properties, which allow the user to check that their quantum circuit is doing the right thing from a connectivity perspective. They have broadened the toolbox for analyzing entanglement considerably, using machine learning to automatically check a multitude of different entanglement structures in a state-agnostic way. This is much more efficient and flexible than checking every structure one by one until you get a confirmation. You can access our H-Series hardware here: https://lnkd.in/eV6b6nWw

We are looking forward to this year’s IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering from September 15th – 20th, 2024! At Quantinuum, we are on a mission to forge the path to fault-tolerant quantum computing with our integrated quantum computing technology stack. Throughout #QCE24, our experts will participate in various panels, workshops, and tutorials to share insights on recent upgrades to our hardware, path to error correction, enhancements to our open-source toolkits, and more. When they aren’t on stage, you can find our team at booth 304 in the exhibit hall. Our team has published the first experimental demonstration of a higher dimensional (4D) surface code, which allows for considerably less overhead in quantum error correction. Read the scientific paper: https://lnkd.in/ekUYA38n This code offers resource savings thanks to its “single-shot” nature, which means that it remains robust to errors without measurement repetitions or additional qubits. Single-shot codes can provide time and space savings over well known error correcting codes like the color code or 2D surface code. For industrial-scale problems, this resource savings can translate to a 10x speedup compared to more standard surface codes. We can develop, test, and optimize exotic, higher-dimensional codes like this thanks to our all-to-all connectivity, which allows us to implement complex geometries that would be infeasible on fixed-qubit devices. More broadly, work like this is enabled by our world-class hardware, the H-Series, which offers physical fidelities high enough and operations consistent enough to explore bleeding-edge approaches to error correction. At this week’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory User Forum, our team led a workshop showcasing the capabilities of our H-Series quantum computers. We provided an in-depth look at our industry leading trapped-ion systems and our differentiated QCCD architecture, explored advanced features like mid-circuit measurement, and discussed practical applications in quantum error correction and quantum dynamics. Thank you to Oak Ridge National Laboratory for hosting this valuable forum! Interested in accessing our H-Series hardware? Apply for a quantum credits grant through ORNL’s Quantum Computing User Program (QCUP) here: https://lnkd.in/erskbVjs   Special thanks to Brian Neyenhuis, Irfan Khan, Matthew DeCross, PhD, Karl Mayer, and Travis Humble for a great event.

Today marks an exciting milestone for the cybersecurity industry as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) releases the first three post-quantum algorithm standards.   The standards are the culmination of years of efforts by the broader community. During that time, many of Quantinuum’s customer projects used prototypes of these algorithms, as we experimented to learn more about performance and deployment at scale.   Going forward, a holistic approach to post-quantum security should address both the “locks” and the “keys” of cryptography. The locks are these new post-quantum algorithms, while the quality of the keys is assured by using high-quality randomness.   In this sense, quantum is both the cyber threat we face and an ally we need to remain resilient. Proven near-perfect quantum randomness is a critical ingredient in modern cyber systems.   Learn more about strengthening cryptography with Quantum Origin on our website: https://lnkd.in/gKcjcUmX #cybersecurity #pqc #qrng #quantum
