Ian Macomber, Fiona Lee and team put together quarterly reports to look at how 25K+ US business across industry type spend. In just 3 months have seen a massive increase in AI purchases and very clear market adoption of Claude 3.5 and GPT-4o. Full report has tons more - and some compelling leading indicators for those looking to understand business spend (and growth!) trends. > AI spending increased ~40% QoQ > Over half the 10 fastest-growing software vendors are AI startups (Cursor, Supermaven, Luma AI, LangChain, Runway, Replit) > Engineering teams are more likely to use OpenAI (up 6x YoY); finance teams on Anthropic (up 14x YoY) > Companies are paying for both OpenAI + Anthropic: ~22% of OpenAI customers also spend on Anthropic (was near 3% in Jan 2024) and ~86% of Anthropic customers also spend on OpenAI

Ramp's fastest-growing AI vendors of Q3 have been revealed 👀 While OpenAI reigned supreme this past summer, we welcomed all new faces to our top 5, including Flow.ai by Khoros, Supermaven, Runway, Anthropic, and Perplexity! Companies are setting up infrastructure that allows them to swap models with ease. For example, the percentage of OpenAI customers also using Anthropic has risen from 3% to 22% this year after the launch of Claude 3 and 3.5 Sonnet. Businesses that build for flexibility will scale more efficiently and stay ahead of the curve as competition between vendors intensifies. Read our full AI vendor report: https://lnkd.in/gnKQRxY3

This is my single favorite Ramp data visualization that we've ever made. Most of our reporting has been quarterly, at the vendor granularity (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) For the AI era, that's too slow. To track the adoption of cutting edge foundational models, you need line-item monthly reporting. Our data show Ramp customers quickly shifting their usage to Claude 3.5 Sonnet and GPT-4o. Since its launch four months ago, Claude 3.5 Sonnet has already reached 12% of spend across all OpenAI and Anthropic models. By building for flexibility, companies can easily test new releases and switch to next-generation models that offer better performance and cost savings. More in comments!
