  • 🌟 PHILANTHROPY SUMMIT KEYNOTE 🎤 We are thrilled to announce the keynote speaker of the Philanthropy Summit: Jane Wei-Skillern! Jane Wei-Skillern, Ph.D., is a senior fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and the lead author of Entrepreneurship in the Social Sector. Her research examines how nonprofit leaders who focus less on building their institutions and instead invest in building community beyond their organizational boundaries can achieve dramatic gains in mission impact with the same or fewer resources. Join us on Monday, October 7, to experience Jane's keynote: "Want impact? Think Networks, Not Organizations." Learn more at sacregcf.org/summit.

  • August is Black Philanthropy Month! Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) was founded in 2011 by Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland with the support of Reunity, formerly known as the Pan-African Women's Philanthropy Network. Now a program of the Women Invested to Save Earth Fund, BPM is a global celebration and concerted campaign to elevate African-descent giving and funding equity. Learn more about Black Philanthropy Month at https://lnkd.in/gDxxgMW. You can celebrate Black Philanthropy Month by supporting Give 8/28, the annual giving day on August 28 dedicated to giving back to Black nonprofits! Learn more at www.give828.org.

  • August is Make a Will Month, a reminder that establishing your financial plans beyond your lifetime is a great way to ensure that your philanthropic legacy will live on. Helen Nash established an annual scholarship fund at the Foundation to assist deserving students who had completed their G.E.D. or high school diploma as they went on to college or trade school. Before she passed away, Helen made a provision in her estate plan to ensure this unique scholarship program could continue. "I knew it would not be cost-effective to set up a private foundation for the scholarship," said attorney Stacey Brennan, who recommended to Helen’s trustee that the bequest be directed to the Foundation to establish an endowed fund. Through the Helen Nash Scholarship, the Foundation ensured that the door to education remains open for generations of Woodland Adult Education students. A Legacy Fund provides lasting benefits to you, your family, and the causes you care about. Learn more on our website:
