Did you know the #EUCouncil has greenlit 🟢 the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF)? 📝🌳 And, how do #carboncredit systems relate to #forestmanagement ? 🪵♻️ 🌱 At #SMURFProject we share the key insights to understand its impact on climate regulation and #biodiversity preservation. 🍃 Sustainable Forest Management (SFM): It refers to managing forest areas to meet current needs through improved practices while contributing to biodiversity conservation. 🍃Biodiversity: Ensures the resilience of forest ecosystems and enhances their capacity to provide ecosystem services such as carbon capture, climate regulation, and habitat preservation. 🍃 Carbon Credits: Financial instruments that allow #smallforestowners to sell credits generated by their activities, providing additional income. At #SMURF, we are developing a carbon credit framework, a digital platform for projects and carbon credits; and two carbon accounting methodologies with biodiversity criteria for ARR (Afforestation and Reforestation) and IFM (Improved Forest Management). 💪🌱 These developments are aligned with the EU #CRCF and are set to be submitted to the European Commission for recognition under the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework. 👉 Learn all the details of this ambitious project and its impact by reading the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dnFBmXUD #BioPills #EUCollaborations #Bioeconomy #EUProjects BBioNets BIO2REG Brilian C4B FOREST4EU Project NUTRI-CHECK NET NUTRI-KNOW PRIMED Project SCALE-UP project SMURF - The forest owners' project Soil-X-Change SYMBA EU Project

A full report with pictures and PowerPoints can be found on https://lnkd.in/ekup4ivP (in Dutch) with excellent contributions from Ramon van der Tol, Janneke Paalhaar, Henk Wanningen, Peter Schreurs and Willemijn Drok.
The EU-SCALE-UP project inspired our Community of Practise to bring together commercial and scientific stakeholders to share experience on regional biobased production chains from fibre crops and forest residues to materials used in the construction and infrastructure sectors. We are looking back at a great annual event at the provincial council hall in Zwolle. We would like to thank Provincie Overijssel, Rabobank and BTG Biomass Technology Group BV for their contribution and for the organisation.
