We are once again collaborating with Schoolhouse on a new blanket called Hopscotch, with a pattern based on vintage gameboards. This follows our very fruitful Canebrake blanket collaboration. The blankets are made start to finish in Pendleton’s Pacific Northwest mills. Both companies share a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and the Pacific Northwest. Schoolhouse is a Portland-based company founded twenty years ago, in 2003. They specialize in unique lighting solutions and lifestyle home goods. The Schoolhouse Electric & Supply factory is located in a hundred year-old building in Portland, Oregon. Pendleton is a bit older (founded as Pendleton Woolen Mills in 1909, with Oregon weaving roots that stretch back to 1863). Pendleton is also Northwest-based, with the HQ in Portland and woolen mills in Oregon and Washington. #Collaboration brings us opportunities to share inspiration and expand our reach, and this one has been especially successful. So take a little tour of the weaving process, and enjoy!

Schoolhouse Employee Spotlight ✨ Vita Navarrete | Manufacturing Specialist What do you do here? I perform cycle counts on inventory, pick orders to be shipped, and answer a lot of general inventory questions. However, my main responsibility is performing quarterly cycle counts of the skus here at Schoolhouse. Besides counting skus, I manage three excel tracking documents, work within SAP to identify the discrepancies, and report this information to the Manufacturing Management and the Schoolhouse Finance Team. I like my job. I get to be on my feet and up and around the building helping solve potential problems. How long have you worked here? I was hired back in October 2013. This October will be my 11 year anniversary. What is your favorite item in your home? My bed. I like to lay down and listen to music to relax. I listen to a lot of Salsa and Cumbia. What are you watching or listening to currently? Each day I listen to 93.1 a Spanish station based out of Los Angeles. Talks about everything: news, sports, and culture. Tell us about a time when you turned lemons into lemonade. When I was doing cycle counts, I found out that skus were being picked from the incorrect location. I had to go to all of the different locations within the building to identify where it was incorrectly picked from, and update within our system. Now we are consolidating the locations of our skus within the building and I have placed signs to help others identify the correct locations. It is still a work in progress, but we are making improvements. What are you currently working on? Doing a cycle count for all the parts that make up our lights. Each quarter I am counting over 4,200 skus in the building. What is your favorite product? The Ion Lamp! It is beautiful!  Schoolhouse Ion Lamp Check out the Ion Lamp 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eZbq764i What is your favorite sandwich? The Spicy Italian from Subway. It is the only sandwich I will eat.

We’re so excited to share that our new fall collection was featured in Domino earlier this week! ✨ The article dives into the Shaker, Mid-century inspiration for the design, noting the collection is “taking cues from a variety of areas, the fall collection points to such disparate inspiration as Victorian board games to folk floral patterns to Bauhaus architecture” and “it all works, connected by inviting colors, organic shapes, and natural materials.” ♟️ Author, Samantha Weiss Hills , highlights Domino’s favorite picks, including the Ashfield Table Lamp, Kaleidoscope Jacquard Duvet Cover, Flora Wool Flat-Weave Rug, and more. Check out the products featured below. Mid-Week Meet: Adam Savaria - CID Technician, Schoolhouse What do you do here? I work in the Continuous Improvement Department with a focus on New Hire Training, Quality Reporting, Custom Work, and New Product Introduction (to the Factory). I’ve been known on occasion to help Customer Service with lighting questions. How long have you worked here? Over 5 ½ years now! What is your favorite item in your home? Tough to pick: my guitar or record collection. (Music obsessed!) What are you watching or listening to currently? John Oliver and John Stewart are a must. Gotta have humor as you digest the news these days. Tell us about a time when you turned lemons into lemonade. We recently had a last minute change to a custom build that was already in production. I was able to rework the build with parts we had instock and rework training materials within less than a day.  Also ask me about the time I hurt my hand right before I was supposed to record an album and completely changed genres of music so I could meet the deadline lol. What are you currently working on?  The CID team is currently completing backend data upgrades to our highest selling collections which will make our lighting manufacturing processes more efficient and flexible in the near future.  What is one thing we could do better? I’ve been really excited about the company refresh this year. Last year was a bit hectic and details were being missed. I think we have a great plan getting back to the basics (while being smarter and more dialed in). What is your favorite product? I love several lamps but the Iris lamp is my favorite. Our bedding collections are amazing and really great the more you live with them.  Check out the Iris Lamp: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eU5DMA3x What is your favorite sandwich? Well my favorite “sandwich” memory was the time in Positano Italy (Amalfi Coast). We went to the amazing local deli, picked out some of the best meats, cheeses, bread, etc. We added Fonzies, amazing wine, and limoncello and just had a picnic on the beach in the sun.
