As a much-loved community hub and recreational facility, our Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre is enjoyed by many and we want to ensure it’s accessible for all 💚 That's why we’ve now introduced the WelcoMe app in partnership with disability inclusion company WelcoMe - allowing visitors with additional needs to book their visit via the website and specify their disability and any support or adjustments they require ahead of their arrival. Visitor Centre Manager, Simon Beattie, said: “By offering the WelcoMe app we’re taking an important step toward ensuring that everyone, regardless of their accessibility needs, can fully enjoy their experience. This app empowers our visitors to communicate their needs in advance, allowing us to provide the best possible experience tailored to each person’s requirements. “WelcoMe also offers staff in-app training with links to a huge variety of training videos to guide them on how to support visitors with additional needs. This means our staff feel empowered and better equipped to assist each of our visitors and help make their experience the best it can be.” Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eA-_-PmV #MoreThanAWindfarm #Accessibility #WelcoMeApp #AccessibleForAll
Project Director for MarramWind and CampionWind Richard Eakin joined a #FloatingWind24 panel session on Wednesday to discuss how the supply chain is evolving to meet the needs of the industry. In his remarks, Richard said it was important to hear “honesty and realism” from developers about their plans for delivering floating projects, and to be clear about what is being done to address challenges that the sector faces. In turn, he said developers are looking for greater certainty over the outlook and timing of grid connections to provide confidence and enable the supply chain to react and invest accordingly. Richard also highlighted the importance of responding to the expectations of communities where projects are being developed – adding that support for the domestic supply chain and creating high quality jobs form a major part of this.

A staggering 1.6 million people in Scotland suffer food poverty. That’s 1 in 6 adults. Yet, over 3 million tonnes of food wasted across the food industry each year is good-to-eat when it’s discarded. Astonishing figures that inspired a team of employee volunteers from ScottishPower Renewables to help a Glasgow charity that works with local supermarkets to redistribute surplus food to small charities, schools & community groups. It was an eye opening day for the team, seeing the shear scale of food that came in one door and later, being caged, sorted and weighed to go out of another door to local charities that help people in real need. Employee volunteering can take you to places & introduce you to new people. It adds value to your life, widens your horizons and brings you closer to issues in your own community. Could employee volunteering give you and your colleagues food for thought?

With UK’s challenging net zero ambitions, inspiring young people to work in the energy sector is more important than ever. But it’s important to note that the responsibility for helping young people learn about sustainability and renewable energy doesn’t fall squarely at the feet of teachers. We can all be educators! 👩🏫 👨🏾🏫 That’s why our employees are passionate about investing time in areas like this, putting renewables on the educational agenda and making it easier for children from all walks of life to learn about sustainability and ‘Green Career’ opportunities. Recently Barry Carruthers spoke to the next generation of school pupils at S2 level at Lenzie Academy. Students learnt about the consequences of climate change and the role of renewable energy in protecting our planet. This can help them develop a sense of responsibility for the environment and inspire them to take action, or indeed to consider going into one of the many green careers available that stretch across environmental, engineering, accountancy, legal, data analysts and artificial intelligence to name only a few. Help us name the new kid on the dock! 🚢 Together with Siemens Gamesa and North Star we’ve launched a competition asking local people across East Anglia to help name a new ship bound for our East Anglia THREE windfarm. The North Star hybrid service operation vessel (SOV) will accommodate up to 60 of Siemens Gamesa’s wind technicians as they work offshore maintaining the 95 wind turbines that will make up EA3 when operations begin in 2026. The vessel will carry the ‘Grampian’ first name as homage to North Star’s Aberdeen heritage, but we’re looking for a winning suggestion for the second portion of the ship’s name which acknowledges East Anglia’s rich maritime heritage or its local community 🌅 The winner will be invited on board one of North Star’s existing SOVs to experience life offshore firsthand – and will be presented with a special scale model of the new ship bearing its chosen name. See full T&Cs and if eligible submit your suggestion here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJmfyt7A

There are so many people involved in making the Whitelee Visitor Centre the success it has been for the last 15 years, and we had the chance to speak to some of them on just what the anniversary and us reaching 1 million visitors means to them 📽 👇 https://lnkd.in/ebbepR_4 #MoreThanAWindfarm #WhiteleeWindfarm #VisitorCentre #Anniversary Charlie Jordan Glasgow Science Centre East Renfrewshire Council Peter Daly
#NationalInclusionWeek highlights the importance of inclusive practices, especially within the workplace, but we know that it is not enough to focus on what makes a difference, we need to apply an impact mindset to inclusion and diversity. We caught up with one of our graduates, Kamile Zvykaite who has been raising awareness about neurodiversity, with a focus on what reasonable adjustments can be made to help people with autism feel more comfortable in the workplace 👇 https://lnkd.in/eRDBfMvG #ImpactMatters
