Across the natural gas industry, safety is a critical component of how the job gets done each day. That's true for Spire, too, and it's why safety is one of our core values. Spire's Chief Operating Officer Scott Doyle kicked off the Southern Gas Association's annual Safety Conference in St. Louis this week with a presentation on the science and art of a safety-focused culture. To celebrate 135 years on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Spire President and CEO Steve Lindsey, alongside other Spire leaders, rang the Opening Bell® on Tuesday, June 18. As one of the original 12 listed companies on the Dow Jones Industrial Average, known as the "Dow Dozen," Spire has grown from a small gas company serving the St. Louis area to one serving more than 1.7 million homes and businesses across Alabama, Mississippi and Missouri. (Fast fact: Spire and General Electric are the only two of the "Dow Dozen" still listed on the NYSE!) More than a century later, the bell ringing symbolizes Spire’s growth and continued commitment to serving customers.

The Housing Authority of the City of Bessemer aims to provide individuals with safe and affordable housing. And at Spire, we believe natural gas supports that goal. Through the Dream Center, the housing authority is reimagining what public housing can be by providing a safe and fun location for local residents to gather, including an arts and crafts room, basketball courts and a natural gas kitchen. Matt and Kelvin, members of Spire's business and economic development team, joined local government officials and community members at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dream Center and received recognition for their work in making the center a reality.🧡
