The Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center (SQMS) is one of the five U.S. Department of Energy National Quantum Information Science Research Centers (NQISRC). Led by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, SQMS is a collaboration of 28 partner institutions — national labs, academia and industry —working together to bring transformational advances in the field of quantum information science. The center leverages Fermilab’s expertise in building complex particle accelerators to engineer multiqubit quantum processor platforms based on state-of-the-art qubits and superconducting technologies. Working hand in hand with embedded industry partners, SQMS will build a quantum computer and new quantum sensors at Fermilab, which will open unprecedented computational opportunities.

Honored, thankful and incredibly proud that Italian President of Republic Mattarella has conferred me the prestigious honor of Knight for the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. It is the highest-ranking honour and most senior order of the Republic. It is awarded for “merit acquired by the nation” in the fields of science, literature, arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers. Even more thankful and honored that Ambassador Mariangela Zappia will be the one to bestow upon me the decoration of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic at the Italian Embassy in DC on the occasion of the 2024 "meet your woman in science event". Sincere thanks to the Embassy of Italy in the US and Consulate of Italy in Chicago for years of fruitful collaborations, and for their support and recognition.
