🎓 Can a Graphic Design Degree Really Shape the Industry’s Leaders? 👀 Loughborough University proves that it can. Year after year, its BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme ranks among the best in the The Guardian University Guide, thanks to its powerful blend of visual communication, strategic thinking, and real-world problem-solving. But the real proof? Its graduates. At the 2024 D&AD New Blood Festival, Loughborough students made a huge impact, with 40+ exhibitors and several earning coveted Pencil awards. And that’s just the latest example of how this course prepares students to thrive in the creative industry. With a track record of producing designers who go on to lead, innovate, and influence, Loughborough is more than just a degree—it’s a launchpad. 🚀 Are you looking for a design course that does more than teach—one that truly prepares you for success? Strategy? Fearless? Here are the buzzwords creatives are ditching in 2025 (and what to say instead) 👀 We explore which buzzwords creatives want to banish and look into a useful new app that might just be the answer to our prayers. Thanks to all those in the creative community who shared their thoughts, including Teresa Ferreira, Sarah Farley, Toward, Brigid McMullen, Coralie Carré, Alan Gilbody, Jon Dignam, Jimmy Gordon, Elizabeth Lepro, Mika Saulitis, Charlie Hurst, and Sho K. ✨ Introducing The Studio – a private little haven for creatives. 🎨 Let’s face it – social media isn’t what it used to be. Between algorithms, AI, and endless noise, it’s getting harder to find genuine connections or have meaningful conversations. So, at Creative Boom, we’re testing something new. The Studio is our humble attempt at creating a private community for creatives – a space away from the chaos where we can chat, share ideas, and support each other, like the good old days. Will it work? Who knows. There may not even be an appetite for it. But if you’re after something more personal, somewhere to escape the madness, then you’re very welcome to join us. We’ve been supporting the creative industry since 2009, and this is just another way to bring us all together. No pressure – just an experiment to see if this kind of thing is needed. If it works, it works! If not, we'll try something else. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eiAcAJDV #CreativeCommunity #TheStudio #CreativeBoom #ForCreatives

What an honour it was for Creative Boom to be invited to Birmingham Design Festival's big event this week. Taking place at Falmouth University, it was a collaborative symposium called Design Is: Play. It featured talks, workshops, Q&A's and brief-setting with Morag Myerscough, Jimmy Turrell, Marie Boulanger & Lex Fefegha. And we were there for it all! Thanks so much to the brilliant Luke Tonge and Daniel Alcorn for such an inspiring event. And to Abbey Bamford for being there on behalf of our platform. Full write-ups coming soon! 👀 Keep up with what Birmingham Design Festival is up to over on their website: https://lnkd.in/ey9GXiT6 Photography courtesy of Luke Tonge #creativeindustries #creativity #artanddesign #graphicdesign #illustration #birminghamdesign #creativeboom

For the next two days I’m down at Falmouth University (feeling like an honorary student) with Birmingham Design Festival, representing Creative Boom👀 Today is the Design is Play symposium with talks from BDF co-founder Luke Tonge, artist & designer Morag Myerscough, Google creative coder Lex Fefegha, Monotype designer Marie Boulanger, and collage artists Jimmy Turrell. I am not a designer - anyone who’s seen me try to use anthing Adobe-related knows that - but I’m already feeling really inspired by the stories I’ve heard so far from the speakers. I can only imagine the effect that this is having on the design students, from first years to MA level. Tomorrow we’ll see these amazing people from industry interact with the students through hands-on workshops. A huge thank you to everyone from the university for having me - including Ashley Rudolph, Andy Neal, Mandy Jandrell, and Bryan Clark. Is this the future of design courses? Will it help us to bridge the gap between education and industry? More on Creative Boom very soon!

Art has the power to move us. But how often does it inspire, unite and educate? 👀 The Saving Butterflies is a rare gem that achieves all this... and more. Cleverly, it manages to address not just one but two of the most pressing challenges of our times—the plight of refugees and the decline of biodiversity—while simultaneously democratising the artistic process to involve local communities in its creation. Launched last April and spearheaded by London-based, Azerbaijan-born artist Aylal Heydarova, this innovative project has captured imaginations and hearts by blending public art, environmental activism and social awareness.
