Cycle time is still a challenge in legacy Fabs - Rick Glasmann We recently completed a Cycle Time Reduction program with a US based client. Reflecting on this latest experience, here is my perspective. Fab cycle time reduction involves balancing complexity, improving tool productivity, and adopting advanced manufacturing techniques. Shorter cycle times benefit semiconductor device makers by enabling faster innovation and volume delivery. The trick is to reduce cycle time while keeping output volumes intact or even increase them at the same time. Modern Fabs take strategies to optimize their processes and achieve shorter cycle times like advanced equipment and automation, automated material delivery, advanced process simplification, and advanced lithography techniques. Legacy Fabs are typically more cash constrained and therefor are forced to embark on a cheaper 'journey' to achieve the same results. Here's an example of such a journey. Our engagement kicked off with a short ORE™ Study to assess the cycle time drivers. ORE™ measures the effectiveness of your factory’s tools, personnel, systems and organization and determines your ultimate throughput, cycle time and cost opportunities. Based upon this analysis, we developed an implementation strategy leveraging our experience, knowledge and proven results. Some strategies and tactics we deployed included: 1. Parallel Processing 2. Reducing Non-Value-Added Time 3. Predictive Maintenance 4. Automating Cycle Time Tracking and Analysis 5. Enhancing their Continuous Improvement Culture The results in the chart below speak for themselves. Are you fighting cycle time issues too? Contact Rick Glasmann directly.
Thank you from MAX --> Plessey!
As my last week at Plessey Semiconductors Ltd as Chief Operating Officer comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this amazing experience. For the last 9 months, I have felt fortunate to be a part of such a great team. The good vibes, mutual respect, and collaboration made every day enjoyable. Despite facing difficult situations at the beginning, everyone responded well to my ideas and suggestions, accepting my challenges and reacting quickly to my suggestions. I am proud of what we achieved together and the significant impact it had on our customers. Together, we promoted a no-nonsense culture where we learned from our mistakes and overcame them day after day. Our management team spent significant energy communicating ideas and positions, rallying around our common goals, and staying close to where everything happens – the Fab. We focused on changing behaviors as much as improving performance to make everything stick. We identified "opportunity hunters" - strong people who thrive on chasing after the next opportunity to change or improve things - and put them in key positions in the organization. And finally, we found our way to manage customer expectations properly by changing how we communicated with them. All this work done in such a short time is simply amazing. I want to thank everyone for taking part in it and making it fun and exciting for me. There's a lot more work to be done going forward, and this is just the beginning of a new journey. To each and everyone at Plessey Semiconductors Ltd I wish continued success!
March 6-8 we will be attending the SEMI ISS Europe conference in Vienna Austria. A packed interesting agenda for 2 days mixed with strong networking opportunities with our Founding Partner & COO Ariel Meyuhas who is also currently assigned as Plessey Semiconductors Ltd COO. https://lnkd.in/e4-nWJQT
Thank you SEMI Fab Owners Alliance for organizing another excellent Collaborative Forum in Phoenix AZ last week! We got to sponsor a fantastic networking evening and presented an important case study together with Thomas Abbott from Plessey Semiconductors Ltd, many thanks! We are looking forward to this year wishing our industry sets new business frontiers never imagined before!
We love sponsoring the SEMI FOA Collaborative Forum. It is becoming a tradition for us. Check out the fantastic Networking Evening Social event on Jan 24 we will be sponsoring this year. We are excited to meet everyone again in Phoenix AZ in a couple of weeks and celebrate another year of innovation and collaboration. We will showcase a great collaborative case study with Plessey Semiconductors Ltd and of course kickoff the 2024 FabMAX Benchmarking Study! https://lnkd.in/eNjbEWeS
Meet us at Semicon Europa at the Fab Managers Forum (FMF) on Nov 15th! Ariel Meyuhas Paul Lamb https://lnkd.in/dnYKZh2
Awesome week!
Took Roee Meyuhas for a ride in my kingdom today! A Fab tour showing him how we make LEDs at Plessey Semiconductors Ltd. His visit this week was to give us a series of TED like talks about his journey in the racing world and excellence in racing. It was inspiring to see this young man standing in front of our team telling his story in the most humble way. Thank you!
