“As a scientist, do you want to do something good for the world?” That was the first question a student asked María Crespo Mauriz during her visit to the I Scientific Fair in Santomera, a small town in southern Spain bursting with bright young minds and big dreams. Maria, part of the TRANSEATION project team, travelled there not only to present our EU-funded initiative for marine ecosystem restoration, but also to support the inspiring Eco-STEM Girls programme — a movement designed to spark curiosity and confidence in girls pursuing futures in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), all through the lens of environmental responsibility. In the warm, buzzing gardens of Santomera, Maria brought the story of TRANSEATION to life. She spoke about blue-green infrastructures, nature-based solutions, and the role of science in healing our seas 🌊. But more than that, she spoke about possibility — about choosing a path where science meets purpose. The students listened, questioned, imagined. And as they gathered around the TRANSEATION materials and models, the message was clear: science is not only about understanding the world — it’s about changing it 🌍. Huge thanks to the Santomera community for the warm welcome, and to all the young women who reminded us that the future of science is already in motion — curious, bold, and unstoppable ✨. #TRANSEATION #EcoSTEMGirls #STEMEducation #BlueEconomy #NatureBasedSolutions #WomenInSTEM #EUfunded #HorizonEurope #ScienceForTheFuture #STEMforGirls

To achieve its objectives, TRANSEATION relies on the specialized work of the 16 partners that make up the consortium. Let's get to know them better! 😉 ➡ EcoOcean is an Israeli non-profit organization, established in 2002 by a group of scientists and environmentalists. The organization's goal is to promote the protection of the marine and coastal environments in their region, to enhance public awareness and influence policy makers for the protection of these environments. ☝ In the TRANSEATION project, EcoOcean’s main objective is to test, implement, and demonstrate the feasibility of different innovative solutions when being integrated into grey marine and coastal infrastructures, aiming to make them serve as NbS without losing their main initial functionality. 🔎 Find out more about TRANSEATION in the project website! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dVPEfExc #MarineConservation #MarineEcosystems #NaturebasedSolutions #Sustainability #BlueEconomy #MarineSustainability #Innovation #TRANSEATIONproject Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar - CTN, AZTI, SPOTTERON, Ocean Ecostructures, CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, GAIKER Technology Centre, Leibniz-Institut für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde, Itsaskorda S.L., S.L., #EcoOccean, DTU Aqua, Saitec Offshore Technologies, University of Haifa, Green Living Projects, SINTEF Ocean, Seacure - Geocorail

The TRANSEATION Consortium Meeting is running smoothly! 🤸♂️ During today’s workshop, led by Francisco José Nicolás Yepes from Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar - CTN, we explored ways to enhance Digital Twin prototypes for long-lines, offshore wind farms, and breakwaters. Our discussions focused on improving visualization, integrating real-time data, and ensuring these tools effectively support decision-making. 🔴 Key areas for improvement: ✅ Enhancing environmental data inputs—including climatic conditions, microbial growth on structures, and detailed bathymetric mapping—to better reflect real-world dynamics. ✅ Defining stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure these models serve the needs of policymakers, industry professionals, and researchers. By refining Digital Twin models, we aim to bridge the gap between data and action, making marine and coastal infrastructure more resilient and adaptive in the face of changing conditions. 🌍💡 #DigitalTwins #MarineInfrastructure #BlueEconomy #OffshoreWind #ClimateResilience #DataDrivenSolutions #CoastalEngineering #Innovation

🌊 Exploring a Regenerative Blue Economy 🌍 During our latest session, Emmanuel Pauwels 🍃 from Green Living Projects presented a compelling discussion on regenerative development and its significance in shaping a sustainable blue economy. 🩵 The session highlighted IUCN’s perspective, emphasizing that a regenerative blue economy is essential because "the ocean and its vital contributions to society are in peril due to the multiple planetary crises." 🌍 🔴 A key takeaway: Regeneration is about moving beyond minimizing harm to actively improving the conditions that sustain life. As Gregory Bateson said, "The major problems of the world are the results of the difference between the way nature works and the way people think." Emmanuel introduced a three-tier rating system for regenerative development: 🍀Tier I – Mindset & Inspiration 🍀Tier II – Practical Guidance & Process 🍀Tier III – Scoring & Verification This framework offers a structured approach to fostering truly regenerative solutions in coastal and marine infrastructure. ⚓ #RegenerativeBlueEconomy #NatureBasedSolutions #CoastalRestoration # #MarineInfrastructures #HorizonEurope #TranseationProject
