Had a great time presenting at last week's TUgis Conference. After attending for many years, it was my first time presenting in-person and I appreciate the engagement from folks in the Geospatial & Public Safety communities. A great event as always from the TUgis Planning Committee, Sharyn Grove, Ardys Russakis, and many more!

I had the pleasure of attending my 1st ever conference at the TUgis Conference of 2024. It was a great experience and I met many remarkable individuals and organizations across Maryland with whom I’ve had the pleasure of exchanging ideas. I learned a lot through this event and will continue to keep on learning heading into the 3rd year of my degree. I am eager to see how GIS continues to grow as I embark on this next step in my career. Big thanks to Frostburg State University’s Geography department for this amazing opportunity 🌎

I was very humbled to have the opportunity to share the state of GIS at The York Water Company with industry colleagues last week at the TUgis Conference in Maryland. Big thanks to Joe DeLuca, GISP for asking me to present. Already looking forward to next year!
GIS is a technology that is used to create, manage, analyze, and map all types of data and at The York Water Company our GIS Analyst, Jason Heittman does all of that every day… well, most days. Last week Jason was not at York Water, but instead he was at TUgis: Maryland’s Geospatial Conference presenting as an authority on GIS for water/wastewater utilities. His presentation to industry peers focused on the past, present, and future state of GIS at York Water and the invaluable resource that the technology brings to a utility when operational and engineering decisions are being made. Jason’s presentation was so well received by the organizers and attendees alike, he has already been invited to share once again next year.

Our team had a great time at the TUgis Conference held at Towson University last week! We enjoyed discovering new ideas and products, networking with GIS professionals at our booth, and collaborating with technicians representing government, education, private, public, and non-profit sectors. Let’s continue the collaboration! See how McCormick Taylor's GIS professionals and the rest of our Creative + Technology Team can help you on your next project: https://lnkd.in/gWYBzwWP #gis #ourworkmovespeople

Fantastic event at TUgis Conference yesterday! So much energy in the room 🤗 My main takeaway from stage was that "the impact is more than tech, data, and innovation - it's also about the ethics, law, decision making, awareness, talent, and integration of geospatial into everything". After the Q&A, I was reminded that impact is mostly local and that we should keep that in mind when identifying research topics, innovation ideas, decision-support applications, and more! Thank you for the reminder as we hone our research agenda at the Taylor Geospatial Institute. And thank you to all those I referenced during the presentation (Trent Tinker and the Cesium team with the Olympics and Moon news, Kevin Pomfret on the upcoming book on geospatial and law, American Geographical Society on the Locus charter, Jesse Kallman on the work Danti.ai is doing re making sense of the world's data, Javier de la Torre on the MapGPT examples, the Cloud-Native Geospatial Foundation and the The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) on making geospatial information more FAIR than ever, the World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) for providing the community with resources like the Spatial Digital Twin report which I keep referencing, GeoFuturesSTL for rallying an entire region behind geospatial, and Joshua Delmonico for championing a modernized vision and implementation of a collaborative national spatial data infrastructure).
What did you take away from the keynote? #TUgis2024 Thank you to Dr. Nadine Alameh for giving such an amazing speech!

Congratulations to Kokuei Chen for presenting an impactful presentation at the TUgis Conference. The number of emails we received after his presentation clearly speaks to the importance of Kokuei's expertise and ability to explain complicated reporting and data in a short window of time!
