The Food Waste Legislative Tracker, a collaboration from Divert, Zero Food Waste Coalition, and Harvard Law School ’s Food Law and Policy Clinic(FLPC), offers an insightful look into U.S. #FoodWaste policies, tracking everything from bans on organic waste to innovative recycling and date labeling measures. As FLPC’s Heather Latino says, this tracker can help advocates compare policies across states, enabling the replication of strong measures and improvement of weaker ones. A key feature? The day has finally come... 🥁 Amazi Foods has OFFICIALLY LANDED at Whole Foods Market!!! 🚀 I could not be more excited (and PROUD) to see Amäzi on shelves at Whole Foods locations in not 1, but 2 regions - #SoPac and #MidAtlantic! Amäzi Ginger Lime Dried Jackfruit and select #Organic (!!) Pineapple flavors are rolling out in Southern California, Arizona, Hawaii and the Mid Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, select PA and NJ stores)!!! I'm particularly excited about this bi-coastal launch because I, myself, have been a bi-coastal girly the past few months... In a life plot twist, I drove across the country in May to LA, but of course, still have deep roots in the Mid-Atlantic. I'm eager to keep building out both of these markets and communities with boots - and hearts - on the ground. This launch means a whole lot to our team and entire supply chain in Uganda, particularly given the challenges we've been working through behind the scenes the past few months. 🚀🍀Last week, I had the pleasure of delivering an invited lecture for the Food Process Technology 2 module to the 4th-year Food Science and Innovation students at South East Technological University. We learnt about 🍺 beer production and explored the following with some fantastic examples: 1️⃣ 🥽 🧪Innovations from the Nordic and Celtic: enzyme applications and technical properties of novel and local ingredients, including colour and viscosity. Sinebrychoff (Timo Mikkola) 🇫🇮, Guinness Storehouse (Steve Gilsenan) 🇮🇪. 2️⃣ 🥼🔬Role of ethanol: in beer mouthfeel and aroma, production and classification of low- and non-alcoholic beers across different countries and taxation. We even touched on brewing the world's strongest beer, Snake Venom from Scotland, at 67.5% ABV!! 3️⃣ 🏭 Side streams: brewers' spent grain (BSG), hot trub, residual yeast and the challenges (safety, flavour, technical) of upcycling them into foods and ingredients. EIT Food, EIT Alumni. 4️⃣ 🏆Upcycling innovation: How we at Upcycled Food Association (Amanda Oenbring, Jonathan Deutsch,) are excited to set sustainability trends alongside innovative companies. Examples include beer from surplus bread (Toast Brewing, Louisa Ziane) 🇬🇧 and our member companies, such as amazing food and ingredients from BSG  (Agrain by Circular Food Technology, Aviaja Riemann-Andersen and Selcuk Yildirim) 🇩🇰 and stabilization of BSG (NETZRO, SBC, Sue Marshall) 🇺🇸.
