Since its founding by Max O. Urbahn in 1945, Urbahn Architects has continually provided comprehensive professional planning and design services for organizations and institutions that engage the public. This diverse practice has formed in us the conviction that architecture has the power to manifest ideals, strengthen communities, and elevate civic discourse. Urbahn first rose to prominence in the 1960s, winning design commissions for the US space exploration program, national scientific research centers, and major hospital facilities. Today, we continue to undertake challenging and complex assignments, providing services as diverse as master planning, programming, energy audits, management studies, capital planning, construction administration, condition assessments, and historic preservation.

Today, three elevators serving the uptown F and M platforms at 6th Avenue were ceremonially put into service, creating an accessible route from the L platform to the street.
