The Open Innovation Day of the Bologna Living Lab took place on December 12, showcasing the sustainable and collaborative logistics solution developed within the URBANE Project. The project, funded by the #HorizonEurope program, aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% and traditional vans in urban areas by 30%. The Bologna pilot seeks to redesign urban logistics through the implementation of an innovative system based on automated and agnostic microhubs – which can be used by multiple operators - for parcel delivery in the city center. This approach contributes to the reduction of pollution caused by last-mile deliveries and improves their efficiency. 📍In Via Calori, attendees were able to observe one of the three microhubs in action, installed within one of the Nearby Delivery Areas planned by the SULP. The strategically located lockers enable the transfer of goods from traditional vans to electric tricycles for delivery within the lmited traffic zone (LTZ). 🛺The Living Lab is part of a network of European cities collaborating within the URBANE project, and is supported by the Metropolitan City of Bologna through the MOVE21: Zero Emission 21st Century project. 🎙️Introduced by Valentina Orioli, Councillor of the Comune di Bologna, and moderated by Paola Cossu, the event included contributions from Andrea Bardi, Luca Bellinato, Lorenzo M., Stefano Ardizzoni, Paolo Tibiletti, and Salvatore Francese. Logistics Service Providers demonstrated the functionality of the microhubs, including the processes for depositing and retrieving packages at the hub. The event also fostered a dialogue between project partners and local LSPs, whose feedback will be crucial for scaling the solution in Bologna and replicating it in other cities. ℹ️ Per maggiori informazioni su URBANE: https://lnkd.in/demupcN3 GEL Proximity, Due Torri Spa, TYP, Salerno Trasporti S.p.A., Ricoh Europe, Wib, FIT Consulting srl

Held at the European Parliament, this event brought together policy makers, innovators and industry leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities of urban mobility innovation. Participants explored how sustainable mobility solutions can support the EU's CO2 reduction targets while improving the quality of life in cities. Our Secretary General, Fernando Liesa, highlighted key priorities for the future of urban freight and logistics: 1️⃣𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Freight is an essential component of urban mobility that requires attention and integration in sustainable mobility strategies. 2️⃣𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: EU-funded R&I projects (such as URBANE Project, DISCO Project, DELPHI_EU project, GreenTurn Project, and many others) have generated countless innovations, but we need to ensure their implementation to achieve tangible benefits for cities and citizens as well as strengthening competitiveness of European industry. 3️⃣𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: The Expert Group on Urban Mobility (EGUM) has developed clear, actionable recommendations to accelerate the shift towards sustainable urban logistics. The European Commission should adopt and implement these guidelines to foster effective change. ALICE team shared their expertise and emphasised the importance of cross-stakeholder collaboration and larger innovation programmes to address systemic transformation, align innovation, financing, local impact and pan-European scaling-up opportunities Organised by EIT Urban Mobility, one of ALICE's member organisations, the event demonstrated how innovation and partnerships are essential to achieving the EU's climate goals and creating liveable urban spaces. #UrbanMobility #Sustainability #LogisticsInnovation #UrbanFreight
