We're officially 3 weeks into cohort #2 of the INVEST program! This dedicated group is already hard at work, learning the essentials of entrepreneurship—from refining their ideas and market strategies to understanding financial and legal frameworks. Each week brings them closer to building sustainable, impactful businesses. Some participants in this cohort are working on ventures such as: • Culturally Diverse Food Trucks • A mobile barbershop • Car detailing services • Reentry support services, including one soon-to-be nonprofit focused on breaking the cycles of oppression, incarceration, and economic disenfranchisement This program is designed for formerly incarcerated individuals with a passion for entrepreneurship. Watching Josue Osorio's journey through the INVEST program has been nothing short of inspiring. He’s shown incredible growth while building confidence and overcoming challenges on his path toward becoming a successful entrepreneur. We’re eager to see where his passion and hard work take him next. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Queniya L., who created the curriculum and leads the instruction, and Michele Clarke-Mason, who provides essential support. Together, they’ve created an environment where participants, like Josue, can build the confidence and belief in their entrepreneurial potential. 📣✨Announcing the launch of Studio89, Vault89's newest venture in film production, dedicated to uplifting authentic voices and producing high-quality content alongside talented Pacific Northwest creatives. Studio89 is a space where underrepresented stories are given the opportunity to flourish through thoughtful, impactful storytelling. At the helm is Co-founder & Creative Director Madeline Down. She brings a wealth of knowledge and production experience, with her work recognized through multiple NW Emmys and international film festival selections. Maddie’s philosophy centers on trust, empathy, and authentic connection, ensuring each story resonates deeply and meaningfully. Currently in production, Downright Perfect follows the journey of Matias, an inspiring 6-year-old with Down syndrome, capturing the love and joy he brings to his family. This documentary offers a glimpse into their everyday life and the beauty of their story. In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Maddie recently joined Matias and his family at the annual Buddy Walk fundraiser, hosted at Woodland Park Zoo by the Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound. It is with great pleasure that we get to recognize one of our own and her continued impact on our community. Kimi Lee King has been appointed to the Seattle Children's Board of Trustees. Her dedication to serving community through championing innovation and empathy in health equity is a testament to her heart and care for others. Seattle Children's is lucky and privileged to have such an amazing human join their team. Congrats Kimi!!

We are happy to announce the completion and graduation of the first cohort of the INVEST Program! Over the past 8 weeks, participants have developed essential skills, gained knowledge, and received mentorship to move closer to their entrepreneurial goals. We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, determination, and growth. A special thank you to Pioneer Human Services for their incredible partnership throughout this journey. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Classic Eats for the delicious catering and to Danielle Quint for the amazing cupcakes that helped make the celebration memorable. Today marked a significant milestone as our inaugural reentry entrepreneurship training cohort confidently presented their innovative startup ideas to several of our board members. After eight weeks of rigorous and focused training, these individuals showcased their creative visions and their relentless determination to move beyond their pasts and embrace ambitious new futures. Their journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the human spirit to dream big, regardless of the obstacles faced. As we continue to support each student in preparing to launch their businesses, I am genuinely excited to see how their hard work and dedication will transform into real-world success. Huge shout out to the good people at Vault89 and our very own Amber R Miller to make our first cohort one to remember!

We have three values at Vault89 that guide our work. And the first of those values is Be Honest. Dishonesty is a difficult sin to avoid because it is easy to cheat if you think no one will notice. However, dishonesty impacts more than just the victim, it affects the very core of the person being dishonest. It makes them untrustworthy and untrusting. It eventually makes them unable to know themselves or relate to others. And it will destroy culture from the inside out. Don’t take dishonesty lightly. How can we ever get to an honest solution if we are not honest about the problem. Be Honest.

I had the pleasure of visiting our reentry entrepreneurship class at Vault89 where I met many current and future entrepreneurs. One of them, David Holmes, shared his business card, and I was truly impressed by his ambition to launch his new venture: A Sharp Solutions. David’s new business will specialize in: - Application Development - Website Development - Graphic Design - Database Development - Marketing - Company Rebranding David’s journey is a powerful reminder that anyone is capable of doing anything. It’s a reminder of the importance of always leaning into your dreams to reimagine your future. And finally, it’s a reminder that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact. "I am so happy about this class because I am finding a new version of myself." -Cohort #1 participant We are officially two weeks into our Reentry Entrepreneurship Program, in partnership with Pioneer Human Services. This 8-week course begins with a grounding in the reality of an entrepreneurial journey. We explore the foundations of entrepreneurship ranging from ideation and market research to financial planning and legal considerations, and then hone in on sustainable business operations and management. The program includes post-graduation support to ensure sustained success and culminates in participants sharing their business concepts with like-minded partners and investors. We are grateful to our participants and to be working in partnership with Pioneer Human Services in service of the community. And this is just the beginning...
